Azari & III – Manic (Creep Remix)

Azari & III’s “Manic” served as further proof that they had many more tricks up their sleeves than just “Reckless With Your Love” remixes (thankfully); a frantic piece of acid pop deftly held together by the piercing diva vocals of Starving Yet Full.

Broklyn’s Creep (comprised of two Laurens, Dillard & Flax) seem like a fitting choice to rework “Manic” if only because their own 2011 breakout single “Days” seems to share a few things in common – the rough edges poking out underneath the pop structure, a little bit of a sinister element bubbling beneath the disco.

On this remix, you might be tricked into thinking you might have the high turned all the way down on your mixer, but nope, it’s just the pacing. Moody, stripped down and vaguely unsettling, it leaves much more room for the vocals to reverberate off the walls and bounce around in your head.

Creep – You (Planningtorock Remix)

Pitched, shifted, warped, slowed, whatever you want to call the recent techniques that’ve been applied to the vocals in dance music in 2010-2011, none of the terms seem to appropriately encapsulate the ways that Planningtorock shifts the vibe of Creep’s “Days” into even darker territory. I would call it more of a “possession” or “chipmunk from hell” effect, if you had to stick a term on it.

CREEP (ft. Romy Madley Croft) – Days

CREEP is the dark and ghoulish beatfilled pop project from Lauren Flax and Lauren Dillard, they just finished a video for their absolutely excellent debut single “Days” (directed by Warren Fischer of Fischerspooner) and the track also features the vocal offerings of Romy Madley Croft (from The XX). Grab a slew of remixes below. (Via Pitchfork)
