In San Francisco we decided we wanted meat before the gig. Loads of meat. Smoked and spicy…mmmmm. That was a really bad idea.

The gig in SF was at a indie-rock-club. We’re always afraid of those kind of places. Sometimes they’re the best parties, but sometimes they’re just wrong.

We needed strength. So we went for a hair-cut and some greasy food. Lucky us we we’re staying in the Tenderloin-district of San Francisco where it’s easy to find a cheap barbershop. 10 bucks. That’s actually the next cheapest place we’ve been to in America. (The record is still held by a well-dressed gentleman on a back street in Salt Lake City. 8 dollar!)

After that straight to the BBQ. Ribs, corn muffins, coleslow, beef brisket…yeah, the whole experience…and then straight to the club. We went on stage and after one song the crowd stormed the stage. We looked to each other and was like “what the fuck is this smell?”, until we realized it was us. Sorry San Francisco. The party turned out to be one of the greatest of the tour, and the stage was completely crowded. The only thing that held people back was our BBQ-breath…

The minute we stopped playing Stefan ran for the toilet and emptied his BBQ-stomach, fountain-style.

We learned a lesson. The hard way.

The rest of the tour we only had salad before the gigs. Fresh and green. Clean.

Press fast forward: Control at Avalon in LA was great… Beta in Denver too…and now we’re on our way home for this time.

The studio is calling. The kitchen too.

We’re easygoing people. We only want two things on our rider: champagne & bananas. (Just look how happy Stefan is above.) Did San Diego deliver? Oh, yes.

After flying south from Vancouver we found ourselves in sunny San Diego and the great club Voyeur. When we got to the DJ-booth the nice guys and gals at Voyeur had placed 30 crates of bananas all over the place! And the champagne was flowing like champagne should…

OK, for the record we also want “the usual stuff” on our rider. Think beers and general liquor and maybe a towel. (But compared to other extravagant riders in this business we still think we’re on the humble side.)

Tip to other promoters: it’s easy to make us happy. We like red meat too! For dinner that is. Not in the DJ-booth.

Yes, this Dada Life North American Tour – turned food journey! – is just getting better and better. After heading south from Vancouver and their worlds-best-sushi (and the burgers in San Diego) we found ourselves in Los Angeles and at a hotel we’ve stayed at a few times. The place in itself is nothing special…but only a few hundred metres away lies this great mexican place called Pinches Tacos that we’ve probably been to 15 times now. Fashionable Nobu also lies a few hundred metres away, but in the other direction. We haven’t been there yet.

That mexican food was way better than the greasy stuff our friend Mr Jaso just had to introduce us to when we’re going back from the gig in OC yesterday. We tried to get the limo (we’re posh for a change!) to go into the drive-through of Del Taco but it just didn’t fit.

Instead we asked Jaso to buy everything he wanted – and then triple it. We ended up with cheese burgers, fries, soft tacos, a burrito (and some more stuff we can’t remember right now). Times three. Greasy. The driver didn’t look happy.

Besides the eating we’re just ready to release our new single. It’s called “Cookies With A Smile” and remixes come from Francesco Diaz & Young Rebels as well as swedish Avicii. We tried it among the pile of bananas in San Diego and it went down just fine. Until next time…

Oh, by the way…We just learned that Pinches Tacos means Fucking Tacos. That place just grows in so many ways.

So we went to Miami dressed up as Super Mario Bros all hyped up to rock Laidback Luke’s party at Liv. The fake moustaches fell off after the first track and we were constantly bumping into each others inflatable tummys in the crowded dj-booth. The day after we woke up with bruises on our knees. It’s dangerous being a super-hero jumping for coins.

Laidback Luke’s Super You & Me-party was easily the best night of the weekend. Tiesto also dropped by the dj-booth and had a drink. So now we’re on good terms again. Since he stole a track from our cd-case (the only copy of an unreleased tune) we’ve had a little Tom and Jerry-fight going on. Our best move was when we finished our opening-set with that tune just before he went on in Liverpool. That was evil. And so much fun.

All that is history now. Forget and move on. After all the mad shit that spells Miami we went to NYC for some nice days of doing nothing, and then up to Canada for gigs.

Sorry. Time for a late introduction…this is the Dada Life-tour blog! We’re in North America for two weeks of gigs. Calgary done. We played a great little club that almost felt like someone’s living room but with a really good sound system (and no tv!).

Vancouver done. That was one crazy party. The crowd almost pulled down the dj-booth from stage. And yes, we mean literally. Not as in “let’s rip this place up”. The guards had to push people away to save the equipment from falling over. Sound of Stereo also played a banging set. Nice guys too!

Other than that this tour has been like a well planned food holiday. First we had Grimaldi’s famous pizza under Brooklyn Bridge, and then a juicy rib eye steak in Calgary. Vancouver? Sushi of course. We even had dinner twice.

Later today we’re taking the ferry over to Victoria (hey guys, what do you have planned for dinner!?) and tomorrow we’re flying down to San Diego to eat some mexican food. Oh, and to play the great club Voyeur…

We’ll be back soon with more recipes and rants.

Another banging monthly mix from the Dada Life homies.

“March. The month when we all live out our Miami-madness in a few bombastic days.

Miami also means new hot tracks. And that is exactly what we have filled our march-mix with! Get ready for…
* Our new take of Benny Benassis classic “Satisfaction”! (Bleep me, till I can get my…Dada Life!) Yes, this is the tune Tiesto stole from our case (the only copy!!!). Now you can all get it at Beatport (we’re thinking of the revenge anyway).
* Our latest remix of the brand new tune “Damascus” by Francesco Diaz.
* “Cookies with a Smile.” Well, the demo-version anyway. They’re still in the owen. But they will be worth the wait. Chunkier than ever.
* A brand new remix of Tim Bergs banger “Alcoholic”.

And as usual we’ve added the latest tunes from the nicest people around the globe. See you all in Miami!”

Today, our first release MVSEVM – French Jeans is released all over the internet (iTunes, Juno, Amazon, etc). We are really happy with all the positive response we have been getting from everyone (great support from a lot of DJs, played on Kissy Sell Out’s show on BBC 1 two weeks in a row now, Big Tune of the Week on Joe Ransom’s show on Kiss 100).

So now it’s time for us to give something back. Here is the original track from MVSEVM. These three Finns are bound to be really big and the journey starts here. “Techno retirees strike back with a dose of cheesy keys & firm beats to make everything fresh again!”

MVSEVM – French Jeans (direct link)

And, please support us and go buy the tracks.

Here is some more feedback on the release to convince you that it’s a killer:

Rex The Dog
“Oh god this is amazing. I thought the Style Of Eye mix was really
cool, and the Dada Life mix blew my head off, and Rex went nuts. Gonna
hammer hammer it.”

Jennifer Lasher
“Fan of everything Dada Life touches!!! It’s dancefloor gold! The Donk
Boys “Epic Rave mix” keeps your attention in an interesting way and is
wonderful for late night sets!”

david autoKratz
“this is top… love the style of eye mix too”

Sinden
“Style Of Eye is one of the biggest tracks in my set right now”
