Get Flavor Records is on fire with this one. Bristol native Ollie McFarlene knocks it out of the park with his debut EP, the title track wrapped in so many feel good vibes that it’ll make you feel like you’re in a treehouse. Dubbed “Bristol Garage”, the title track “Someone Warm” is a 140 bpm trance influenced stunner wrapped in the some seriously warm and intimate vocal sampling that sucks you in.

“Every Time” holds an equal allure, with an emotionally charged, powerful chorus – rarely have I heard a producer who has the ability to make vocal samples sound so at home amongst the rest of their sounds. Even though it’s too early to dub anything “feel-good-hit-of-the-summer”, this EP is certainly high up in the running.

Ollie McFarlane – Every Time (Original Mix)

LOL Boys are so diverse that one might almost think they were children of the internet. No, not like a metaphor, I mean that it’s quite possible that they were birthed through a 3 1/2-inch floppy disk drive, or that they began as avatars on Second Life who gained consciousness and started making dance music splicing tribal guarachero and percussive tech house with So-Cal pool party sensibility with a nice nod to classic g-funk on top.

“Runaways” is a bittersweet early morning house tune with a cinematic appeal and thudding drums. It feels like the apex of an eerie but heartfelt conceptual journey through the metaphysical space of the internet, and Montreal folks Grown Folk have given it a supreme reworking that we’re happy to share with you.

If you grab the EP on Juno Download you’ll also be treated to the original of Runaways, and “Aisle Seat”; an accordian backed reggateon piece of LOL Boys signature percussive ingenuity and warped diva vocals. There’s also “Intuition”, which shuffles along on a static overdose of weed induced heartbreak – like the sound of Just Blaze having an existential crisis, selling everything he owns and moving to the desert. I used to visit Damn! on Christmas Day when they were still just a club in my hometown of Lund, Sweden where they played live instruments on top of what the DJ spun. They have since then evolved into the band it is today, one of Sweden finest live acts and now they are back with a new single. This is far from our regular stuff but as always Discobelle got the remix!
