It feels like it’s been a hot second since we’ve heard of a real release from Daniel Avery, but boy does “Sensation” more than make up for the lost time. It’s dark themes show a hint of lineage from his Drone Logic days, but his sound has clearly developed in the two years since his debut album release. It’s minimal bleeps and bloops combine for a dynamic and complex sound that brings forth a range of emotions, and more importantly, has us wishing there was a dancefloor close by.
