Brazilian producer Lucio Morais steps away his previous project Database to launch a new solo effort under the moniker Ascio.
As part of Database, Lucio has already earned countless chart dominating hits with previous releases on the French label Kitsuné and has enjoyed the honor of working on projects with the likes of Fatboy Slim, Dragonette, Mark Ronson, and French Horn Rebelion, among many others.
Ascio sees Lucio exploring a different part of the music spectrum, moving from disco to more house, and today we’re proud to premiere the debut single “Heart Hides” featuring Aussie vocalist San Mei. With the swift rise seen from Database one can only expect Ascio will be a household name in the not so distant future.
When it comes to the track “Poster Girl” by French Horn Rebellion and Database, I’ll be the first to admit that I might be a little bit biased. I’ve watched the brothers Perlick-Molinari in awe as they worked through a track from start to finish. David and Robert are two truly talented individuals who have a knack for writing hooks and catchy melodies.
Last month we wrote about the Justin Faust remix of “Poster Girl,” which was a nice disco groove track. MNDR’s Peter Wade’s interpretation is straight funky. He adds warbling synths that ricochet off your eardrums. Listen and download below.
With this much talent involved it’s no surprise the track is a hit. One of the best things about this song is that the poster girl is voiced by Discobelle’s very own “Fancy” Nancy Lu! And she sounds pretty damn good if I may say so myself.
