Toronto based Meech is a member of the Discobelle Records family and he just dropped the spectacular “I Want EP” on our friendly neighbors in Demento Mori.

Last week he curated the Weekend Selector mix series for premier blog Earmilk, and they also posted this interview.

Here’s how they describe the mix:

“The weekend opens up with jaunty bongos laid atop a casual deep house groove via Jens Bond only to carry on to a moving soul performance by fellow beatniks Prince Club and a tribute to the recently passed Loleatta Holloway. Stacking lines of cultured percussion the entire mix is polished with a lush coat of foreign drum hits and imported one shots. The tape reaches a high note when Meech cues up the original mix of “I Want”, and rightly so. The track pulls out a clean set of piano keys to satiate a thirst for classic house luxury. Elegance is what this gentlemen stands for and as the minutes continue to run down, Meech serves up more enticing dishes like David Keno’s full course bassline in “Wait for More”, an unforgiving spicey remix by Kenny Dope, and the grubby leftovers of the legendary Green Velvet’s collaboration with Kid Sister. Overall it cuts out to be a filling mixtape, with just the right zest to bring out a craving for conversating and of course the mood to get down and boog.”

Toronto producer, all around amazing guy and part of the Discobelle Records family – Meech – just dropped his new EP “I Want” on Discobelle’s Danish brethren label Demento Mori.

On the EP we find the Ashanti sampling “I Want” which propels us into a world of top class, pumping, percussiontinged house music with a chopped up vocal sample to die for, there’s also remixes deluxe from D.Fine, Olibusta, Raziek and Square Mode where each one brings something new and exciting to the table.

French duo Art Nouveau just dropped their new “Air France” EP on Danish up and coming label Demento Mori, it’s a lovely affair that includes remixes from fellow frenchman Gucci Vump and US/Canadian bassenhanced combo LOL Boys. The boys threw together a fine sounding mix (that includes some Discobelle Records love) to promote the release and it’s definetely brightened up our day.

The new EP on Demento Mori from Reims, France housemeisters Art Nouveau is sounding pretty fresh.

Tough to pick a favorite with the clanging mariachi band clatter of “Souk” and the tropical hustle of “Air France”, but the standout might absolutely have to be their LOL Boys collaboration “Air France II”, rightfully dubbed “ephemeral juking house” by a friend. LOL Boys are known for their meme-like adaptability, but this one sounds absolutely anthemic, and possibly could usurp all their other efforts as the jam that they come to be known for authoring. The vocal sample choice alone should be used to treat depression.

Gucci Vump also turn in some work that reminds me of arriving in a Tokyo airport after a seventeen hour flight; half delirious from all the free drinks the stewardess served you, a bit nauseous from the turbulence, and trying to figure out when your ears are going to pop.

EP drops on February 28th, but to tide you over, you can listen to the whole sh-bang below:

A bit of a slow sunday here at the Discobelle office but we we’re glad to find this gem courtesy of French duo Art Nouveau in our inbox. They’re about to drop their debut EP this fall on Copenhagen based label Demento Mori and in the meantime here’s two absolutely stunning tracks for us to enjoy.

“The two Reims-based producers Andrea Starosse and Julien Salman started working together under their moniker Art Nouveau after running into each other in a clubnight in – ironically enough – Paris. They create a rich and colourful sound that’s inspired by different forms of house music but they also draw a lot inspiration from world music, which is clearly audible in their universal sound. In the past they have sent out demos to the Australian duo Yolanda Be Cool who picked up their single “Miracle” to get a release on their label Sweat It Out! and meanwhile they’ve been working together with Get Flavor Records too. Being playlisted by the Sound Pellegrino Thermal Team, having steady support from Brodinski and a couple of upcoming releases in sight, the future for these two young French producers looks bright.”

The Copenhagen DJ/production collective SunnnyBeach HappySlap MardiGras is the first signing to Demento Mori and they’ve really hit a homerun with the release of the “Conta/Mamacita EP”, a sundrenched funky southern hemisphere sounding house affair. Berlin based techhouse producer Momma’s Boy (AKA Mikix the Cat) has stripped “Conta”, added bass to the groove and made it to a bouncy, ballistic dancefloor bomb.
