Banda UO (Davi, Mateus and Candy Mel) from the city of Goiania in the Midwest in Brazil have adopted an Amazonian style of music originally from the city of Belem called tecno brega — which loosely translates as “cheesy techno”. In 2011 the group won the Brazilian MTV Web Video of the Year award for their heavy-metal brega sample of Willow Smith’s “Whip My Hair” entitled “Shake de Amor” and are currently under supervision by fellow Brazilians in Bonde do Role who are grooming them for world domination. He’s part of Trouble & Bass Bookings which means that he’s been touring all over North America during the last year, recently dropped an EP on Diplo’s Mad Decent imprint + he’s made tons of remixes for the likes of Hostage, Kastle, Treasure Fingers etc!

“Superhuman” is the second track on the EP and it sees Willy provide us with a jacking groove and a bonerattling bass all atop tropical drums to create what feels like an unstoppable dancefloor monster.

Diplo just played one of the tracks from the EP on his latest Sirius/XM “Blow Your Head”-show (he also played Brenmars “Taking It Down”). 1984 also got a new mix out that you should check out. He’s got some pure fire in there.

You can also check out 1984 performing at Starlight festival with Mathias Khaden, J-Wow (Buraka Som Sistema), Blatta & Inesha, Gigi Barocco etc. on August 9-10th, then on August 13th at the Not Festival with Apparat, Carl Craig, Francesco Tristano etc. and finally on the 14th at the Sicily Music Village with Goose, Kissogram, Jeff Mills and more.
