Up and coming Brazilian duo Balako just released their debut EP “Hora De Balako” for the fine people over at the excellent Greco Roman label and we here at Discobelle are extremely pleased that they wanted to contribute to our mix series.

Balako AKA Diogo Strausz and Rodrigo are producers and multi instrumentalists out of Rio De Janeiro. The pair has a knack for mixing up rare samples with their own unreleased, genre-spanning edits with their styles ranging from techno and house to salsa and carimbo and to blending that with ’70s disco/funk in order to create something both retro and current which their mix for us is a smashing testament to.

After a relaxing summer hiatus that included lounging on the beach, BBQ and other summer fun the Discobelle mix series is back, first mix out the gate is from Bordeaux based beat making duo Tuff Wheelz.

The mix was originally made in conjunction with their recent “Constellations EP” release on Arkhive London, it showcases a spaced out housed up sound that also incorporates nods to their love for breakbeat and jungle.

We’re starting off the week in the best possible way, to be more precise with a new mix for our Discobelle mix series. We’ve reached the 167th edition and this one comes from Los Angeles based producer/dj Kyle Woods who is also the resident for Saint Heron.

He provides us with a sultry and mesmerizing mix of hip hop/r’n’b which is perfect to listen to now that the weather is heating up, straight up jams from Kaytranadas edit of Solange via Brandy to his own track “Solar”.

Barcelona-based producer/dj Baldo have released smoking hot tracks on labels such as Let’s Play House, Neovinyl, Feline and Good Ratio.

He is the latest in line for the Discobelle mix series, he goes deep into jazzed up and funked out house territory for this groovy and organic sounding mix that gives us a warm and fuzzy feeling inside and it’s been on steady rotation here at Discobelle HQ since we received it.

If you want to hear more from Baldo he’s playing Red Light Radio on Saturday May 13th and if you happen to find yourself in Barcelona next week check him out at the Neovinyl (on which he’ll release a new EP later this month) label night at Moog.

For this week’s Discobelle Mix, we do a little cross-blog action with a specially curated set from Jimbo James, the San Diego based impresario over at Music Is 4 Lovers. As cofounder of the heavily lauded party brand, Lovelife, and current editor-in-chief at Mi4L, James wears a multitude of hats as an industry leader on the West Coast. From booking international headliners such as Claptone or Thugfucker to scheduling assignments for his blog contributors, from hosting events in LA or Tijuana to performing at Playa Del Carmen’s BPM festival…yes, it’s hard to imagine James finding a moments rest.

Always keeping up on his grind, James’ found the time to bang out this deep and moody mix for our exclusive series. We’re stoked to include him in our catalog of taste-makers and please do keep you eyes peeled for his upcoming live dates and weekly residencies.

Yes, yes…Discobelle Mix 160 come courtesy of Manchurian disco maestro, Neil Diablo. The head honcho over at To Rack & Ruin and El Diablo’s Social Club, the man is a busy bwoy and we’re super stoked to finally land this exclusive mix from the big guy.

Known for his classically inspired sense of curation, Neil selects a cross section of bizarro-disco, vintage house, balearic oddities and dance floor burners for his mix. Clocking in at just over 90 minutes, this one is sure to get you pumped and primed for the club. Get up!

Another week, another fabulously groovy, Discobelle mix! Clocking in at the #159 spot in our exclusive series, we have Costa Rican disco impresario, Napoleon. As head honcho of the Wonderful Times label, he’s showcased such artists as Luvelss, VinylAddicted, Hotmood, Buzz Compass and Martin Hayes. As a producer, the young latino has scored releases on such illustrious imprints as Kolour LTD, Editorial Records, Editor’s Kutz and Masterworks Music, to name a few.

Napoleon turns in a fantastic mix chalked full of groovy, cosmic sounds… a perfect soundtrack for the changing seasons.
