The Toronto dynamic duo Thugli (Drastik & Tom Wrecks) presented us with a small gift yesterday in the form of the track “Barrier” which further deepens their stronghold on the rising trap movement, huge crunchy synths colliding with a serious bassline driven beat and chopped vocals form this monster.

Thugli

Thugli is the new project from two of Canada’s most skilled dj’s/producers – Drastik & Tom Wrecks. They started
the project a few months ago when Drastik decided to move to Toronto in order focus more on production work with Tom Wrecks, they’ve been making double time dirty south style music since they started collaborating almost a decade ago.

“Weyvee” has already been featured on the “Banned” mix by Chicago duo Flosstradamus and it’s a monster.

Our old friend Iggy Smalls from Ottawa runs a monthly party together with Drastik (another old friend of us here at Discobelle) called “Frenzy” where they look to book and feature up and coming artists that they feel are on the cusp of something big and that have a new interesting sound. Scion Sessions just started a Canadian chapter of events, where they also aim to push new emerging sounds and thus an alliance was formed with Frenzy to start doing minimixes with the Frenzy dj guests.

To start things off NYC producer and the man responsible for the massive track “Harlem Shake” Baauer made a mix a few weeks ago to reflect his gig with Halifax hero Ryan Hemsworth, 20 minutes of serious tunes ranging across trap, hip hop and bone rattling bass.

Also, yesterday Toronto producer and Pelican Fly member Deebs dropped this awesome mix in anticipation of his upcoming Frenzy show tomorrow Friday August 3rd.

“So it’s finally arrived, the follow up to The Frenzy! I’m really excited that I get to finally share this with everyone, it feels like this mix has been through hell and back… I started it almost a year ago and would work on it periodically for a few months here and there. When it was finally getting close to done, I found myself unhappy with a few chunks and went into more editing. By the time I finished editing and was happy with it, it for some reason would not render off my computer. It was just stuck there and I couldn’t find the corrupt files within this mayhem of waves for the life of me. I let it sit for another few months until I realized how much room it was actually taking up on my studio computer. So I said, that’s it, I either render or it, or delete it. With that, I gave it some patience/TLC and within a few days, BOOYA! I FINALLY got it!

Hope you guys enjoy it!”
