Danny Worrall, aka 80’s Child, head honcho at the renowned, Masterworks Music, drops in for the latest in our exclusive mix series with vol. 147. Having positioned himself on one of the upper most echelons of the global, disco edit scene over the last several years, it was only natural for the formation of his own label to occur. Under the Masterworks banner, Mr. Worrall has hosted the likes of Dr. Packer, Pontchartrain, Closed Paradise, Ziggy Phunk and many more.

Expect heavy doses of funk, soul, disco and deep vibes throughout this hour long mix… DIG IT!

Detroit native and all around, a-class lad, Pontchartrain (nee Dustin Alexander), dropped by the offices and left this lovely little mix for our exclusive series. The disco wunderkind blasted on to the scene with heavily lauded releases on Whiskey Disco, which he now co-runs with label founder, Sleazy McQueen. In Addition, Pontch has found recent success on WD sub-label, Lovedancing, as well as Kolour LTD and Detroit’s Rocksteady Disco. His brand of re-edit wizardly is earmarked with perfection and see’s him reimagining and reinforcing forgotten disco and funk tunes…updating them for modern dance floors.

We’ve featured Pontchartrain a several times here in the past and it’s great to finally add him to our arsenal of Discobelle Mix providers. Strap in and enjoy!

Brooklyn’s bastion of disco deviance, Razor-N-Tape, kicks off the year with a lovely four-tracker from Rose Records founder, Martin Hayes. Chalk full of deep and dusty delights, opening tune, “Get On Down” holds a sleazy slap-bass line for huge timbale rolls to flitter upon while “Make Me Dance” follows suit with loads of latin percussion and a lovingly lazy groove. Flip it over for “Tight Spot” which gets things nice and fiery while closer, “Ol’ Funky Music” is straight out of a forgotten blacksploitation film.

Discobelle Mix 105??? You might could say that we’re chuggin along, now couldn’t you? The latest transmission comes courtesy of Essex based, scalpel technician, Chuggin Edits. We caught wind of Chuggz, nee’ Gary, via his podcast series, Slice Of Life and his lovely remix for Drop Out Orchestra from a few weeks back. Here he’s gifted us with a solid mix of sleazy disco edits and house inspired joints that are sure to tickle your fancy and get those boogie shoes bumping!

Vinyladdicted

VinylAddicted may not be a household name at the moment, but in the near future, that is sure to change. Here, the vinyl enthusiast drops a live mix that acts more or less as a primer for his current and forthcoming releases with a multitude of selections from the upcoming Diggin’ Disco Deep #2 as well as current and unreleased music from each of his labels. If you’re looking for a slice of pure disco-funk and smooth, deep-disco house joints, look no further than this fab new mix from a scene luminary.

Brooklyn’s disco haven, Razor-N-Tape, are back with their latest slab courtesy of Michael The Lion (aka DJ Apt One). His latest collection of DJ friendly edits kicks off with “Anytime,” a funky, sing-along heater with heavy percussion and jangly keys. Next up, “The Don” takes things international with a cheeky little disco groove, latin vocals and vintage synth riffs while “Get More” is a hard-funk treatment of a classic Teddy Pendergrass tune. Wrapping things up, Michael enlists the talents of fellow Brooklynite, Sammy Bananas, to rework Herb Albert’s most “hypnotizing” effort to date on “909s and Herb.”
