ROOM8 is one of my favorite up-and-coming groups right now. They previewed two tracks from their Transduction EP last year that features vocals from Electric Youth and sax work of Ian Young from M83. On top of that, legendary producer Giorgio Moroder arranged the record himself. It’s amazing that ROOM8 is still such a secret but we can’t imagine that they will be for much longer.

Recently the LA-based duo released a electrified cover of Phil Collins’ “One More Night.” If you happen to live in the LA area, ROOM8 and Electric Youth are starting a monthly residency every second Thursday at Palihouse called “Night Cruise”.

Discobelle premiere!

Swedish italodisco queen Sally Shapiro drops her new single “Starman” (also features Electric Youth, taken off upcoming album “Somewhere Else” released February 26th) tomorrow, this remix from Canadian producer Miami Nights 1984 ups the ante of the 80’s spacey discoinfused original (which you can check out and then download below) and packs more of a club ready punch while Sally’s romantic vocals still keeps it somewhat bittersweet.

ROOM8 is the next electronic act you need to be listening to. The LA-based duo already has noteworthy collaborations with Electric Youth and M83 under their belts, and are on the verge of releasing their album Transduction.

And if you’re in the West Coast neighborhood this week, ROOM8 will be playing Dim Mak Studios in support of Van She in Los Angeles. So do yourself a favor and check it out.
