Hamburg based producer Boris Dlugosch just unleashed the absolutely huge “Bangkok” single on the Erol Alkan owned Phantasy Sound label, we posted the video a few days ago and then our Swedish brethren in Pom Pom used the even bigger Roska remix for their fantastic edition of our Mixin’ It Up series. This of course meant that we somehow had to find a way to give the remix to our faithful readers and thanks to Darling Department here it is…
The Finns over at New Judas are at it again with the release of “Pompeii” which happens to be the debut EP from now London based producer Les Gillettes. It’s already getting support from the likes of Erol Alkan, A-Trak and Kissy Sell Out. The EP features two original tracks and two remixes from Obi Blanche and Mikix The Cat. On the track “Pompeii”, she cooks up a hornbased playful clubtrack that will have you partying in no time
This amazing track has been hyped up aplenty and it’s already been playlisted by the likes of Erol Alkan, Riton, Trevor Jackson, SMD, Pete Tong, Annie Mac, A-Trak, Boys Noize. Pretty much everyone has been holding their breaths waiting for this dancefloor destroyer from Retro/Grade (ie Serge Santiago and Tom Neville) to drop. “Moda” sees them pair up retro italo disco (those synths are to die for) with more modern electro sounds and it’s a winner. An album is anticipated for a 2010 release. (Thanks to Rebel Butterfly)

“The fifth release on Erol Alkan’sPhantasy Sound, ‘Who’s There?’ is the finest paranoid rap classic since Geto Boys’ ‘My Mind’s Playin’ Tricks On Me’. But we can’t give too much away about it yet, other than to say its collaboration between one of the UK’s finest DJs and one of the most exciting new artists of next year.” (Video by James Connolly AKA L-Vis 1990)
The quartet from Castle Donington, Late Of The Pier have been much talked about with the release of the Erol Alkan produced single “Bathroom Gurgle” (remixes coming from Breakbot, Duke Dumont, Filthy Dukes, Tronik Youth + our danish homies Tomski*Fredboy). However, up and coming producer Drums Of Death gives us this bootleg which combines Late Of The Piers spastic mix of dancey electropop with wobbly bass galore.
This track and a couple of more remixes of Mystery Jets “Two Doors Down” went out on a DJ promo last night, but if you weren’t one of the lucky few on that list we got your back.
British 80’s flavoured electro/rock quartet and Erol Alkan proteeges Late Of The Pier will most likely be one of the bands to watch out for in 2008. Here’s the Rolmops remox of “Focker” which was co-produced with Erol Alkan and is the other track on the double A-side single (will be released on May 19th) along with “Space And The Woods” (check Fluokids for the Switch remix of that). This is maybe not normally what we post here on Discobelle, the original version of “Focker” has been described as “electro madness and Daft Punk Vs Gary Numan on LSD”, it’s a bit weird but good.
A trailer for the Mystery Jets track “Hideaway” (produced by Erol Alkan and remixed by Switch). This is an all-star team of awesomeness and it made our day.
