Shir Khan always brings all things deep and funky when it comes to his extraordinary imprint, Exploited. The Sercret Gold series has given us some of the best underground tracks from the likes of Piemont, Huxley and Claptone, the sixth and latest installment is no different.

Secret Gold 6 starts out with my personal favorite, “Give It To Me” by PJU which features Josh Caffe & Robert Owens on the vocals. A soulful yet modern house track, it’s heavy on the horns and synths while hyper-sexed vocal cuts take the track to new heights. The rest of the EP is solid until the very end, Belgium’s very own Antilope’s dreamy concoction “Body Trouble” comes in next and is smooth mixture of deep house and dream pop. Finishing it off Kevin McKay (from Glasgow Underground) gives us a tribal tech house jam with “Everythings A Dream”, and newcomer Will Clarke’s wobbly “Gunna Give U” is a floor focused stomper.

TOUCH packshot

French house guru, The Mekanism, makes regular appearances on Black Jukebox, the sub-label to one of my absolute favorite imprints, Exploited. Here, his offering takes the form of ‘Touch,’ a silky-smooth, sub-terrainain house joint that oozes like molasses. The Mekanism’s production quality is palpable… never one to pull any punches or follow any trends, the man carves a clear path thru the minutia of the modern dance world, leading us into the promise land.

BUY on Beatport.

First release on Berlin label Exploited in 2014 drops February 10th and it’s the comeback single from German producer Claptone. “Ghost” is a hypnotic house track that features the vocal offerings of Alex Ounsworth from NYC outfit Clap Your Hands Say Yeah.

Up and coming UK producer Copy Paste Soul makes wicked house tunes, end of story. With a trade mark sound incorporating heavy swung garage flavors, squelchy low ends and the occasional Amen break, CPS drops his third release for one of my favorite Berlin labels, Exploited.”People On The Street,” is the beat-maker at his finest, where as previous offering might have leaned on the slightly cumbersome side, the mark has been struck dead on here, pure fun (dat bass line tho)! B-side, “Fly Away,” carries a confident strut that is sure to shake any dance floor. Heaters, both of em. Out today. Purchase here.
