Red Bull Music Academy Radio – Fabric Live pres: Hessle Audio ft. Ben UFO, Pearson Sound & Pangaea

Last month the RBMA World Tour culminated its circumnavigation of the globe with a takeover of the biggest ferris wheel in Europe, the London Eye. Each of the 30 capsules featured influential producers, DJs and bands that presented the latest in the upfront London sounds that are currently making waves around the globe. This set comes from the Hessle Audio label crew featuring Ben UFO, Pangaea and Pearson Sound. Ben UFO has gone from queuing up at London’s FWD to becoming a figurehead of the scene in just a few years, together with Pangaea and Pearson Sound (formerly known as Ramadanman) he runs Hessle Audio. The label has done much to avoid the forensic genrefication of dubstep, working the ever thinning borderlines with dubbed out techno and deep house.

Soul Clap – Disco Step 2001 Mixtape

Acclaimed Boston house/disco duo Soul Clap are getting ready to take over famed London club Fabric on friday for a thirty hour 12th birthday party with the likes of Ricardo Villalobos, Moodymann, Maya Jane Coles, Lee Foss, Pearson Sound, Ben Klock, Steffi etc. But first they give us a soulful new mixtape on which the boys have been busy digging through a massive backlog of mixes and rare audio gems to come up with a gift so groovy it takes us all the way back to 2001.

Neoteric – Fabriclive x Jack Beats Promo Mix

The always on point, versatile and all around awesome Canadian producer/dj Neoteric recently relocated to Berlin and this friday (October 7th) sees him play at the main room of the legendary club Fabric in London (together with Zinc, Marc Roberts, Style Of Eye and whole bunch of other top acts). He managed to find some time in his hectic schedule for a promo mix and here’s a collection of tracks he’s feeling lately, as always mixed with skill and class.

Nicolas Jaar – Keep Me There

Nicolas Jaar is unstoppable right now. Not only is he giving out free EPs, coming off of producing a stellar podcast for XLR8R, and already geting comparisons to Ricardo Villalobos and Aphex Twin (though I don’t see how those two are related, really), but at 21 years old he’s already preparing the premiere of his first live show, accompanied by a full instrumental band on March 30th at Fabric.

To celebrate Jaar’s first full length release on Circus Company, entitled “Space Is Only Noise”, we’re pleased to post an experimental but addictive movement-inducing track. The first half of “Keep Me Here” stays obscured in the shadows, building up some looped acapella humming before throwing some jagged piano keys behind it. Eventually it all builds up to a peak, where a soulful saxophone line emerges out of the darkness.

It takes some serious guts to make this work on a dancefloor, and maybe that’s exactly why Jaar’s music seems so exciting – the uncertainty and diversity present in all these songs skews your expectations. Anything goes.
