If you haven’t heard, there’s a new band in town and their name is Night Drive. Made up of Texas natives Rodney Connell and Brandon Duhon, Night Drive is the type of music you would hear on a car stereo if Giorgio Moroder and Ray Bradbury were driving late at night through a buzzing metropolis.

Today the two are kicking off an Alphabet themed mix set series called “Disco Alphabet”, where each mix set only features tracks with artists names starting with that letter from the alphabet. We’re happy to be presenting the first mix in the series for the letter “A”, which features tracks by everyone from Astrolabe to Anoraak to Alex Metric. As with all of the mixes in our series, Night Drive’s “Disco Alphabet – Volume A” is available as a free download so dig in.

Here’s a tidbit about the mix from the band themselves:
It’s slightly over an hour and starts with an old italo track. It has a mix of old and new (mostly new), disco-flavored stuff at around 122 bpm, no bangers or aggro stuff.

Tracklist:
1. Automat – Droid (Cecile edit)
2. Astrolabe – Cave (Discotexas edit)

We asked London producer Clancy to put together a mix for us for obvious reasons; great producers also have great taste in music. Clancy’s music rides the line between house and disco, with well-produced remixes and originals that can get a dance party started night or day. There’s never a “drop,” that would be too easy. Instead, Clancy creates pent up feeling and emotion that’s released in a steady dose. Clancy has recently been getting a lot of attention for the single “Lightbox,” the first in a series of originals to be released over the coming months. In the meantime, take a listen to Clancy’s “Leisure Time” mix for Discobelle to satiate your palette.

“Mixes aren’t something I put together for streaming very often so I really enjoyed doing this one. I wanted to showcase some of the tracks that have been doing it for me over the last few months, both new and some even older, in order to give an insight into what has been influencing my sets and productions. I’ve always liked to play music that gets both girls and boys on the dance floor and this mix highlights some of the tunes that have done that for me. Big thanks to the guys at Discobelle for asking me to put this together.”

Discobelle favorite RAC is back with a brand new track called “Something About Us.” André Allen Anjos is keeping it all in the family by teaming up with wife Liz on this Daft Punk cover. It’s a bit of a departure from the usual bouncy nu-disco we’re used to associating with RAC, but “Something About Us,” though downtempo and melancholy, is a seriously saccharine tune.

We’re also excited to announce a ticket giveaway to see RAC to our Washington, DC readership. This Friday, July 27th RAC will be performing along with The Knocks, POP ETC, Vacationer, and French Horn Rebellion as part of All Things Go and Neon Gold Records‘ anniversary celebration of their monthly All Things Gold parties. To enter to win, just pop an email over to Nancy@Discobelle.net before Thursday, July 26th at midnight. Winners will be announced day of the show. Full event details here.

This week is drawing to an end and it’s been one hell of a ride. Luckily for us, we find solace in the fact that L.A production duo and all around amazing guys LOL Boys just put the finishing touches to this splendid remix of London singstress Florrie and her recent single “Give Me Your Love”. This is described as being: “Slinky, sexy, deep and rhythmic” and we can only agree.
