Resident Advisor label of the month: Night Slugs

The Night Slugs crew are taking over, one of the most prolific labels of 2010. Last week saw them dropping the hyped up single “Wut” from fellow London producer Girl Unit and today it was announced that they’re the label of the month over at Resident Advisor. L-Vis 1990 did this mix for Resident Advisor, showcasing exactly why they were named label of the month.

“This month’s label showcase comes courtesy of L-Vis 1990, one-half of the team behind Night Slugs. Over the course of three-quarters of an hour, he takes us through the neon-lit world of the label.”

XLR8R podcast 156 – Girl Unit

Another stellar mix courtesy of XLR8R Magazine, this time we get Night Slugs affiliate Girl Unit who smashes it out of the park with this grimey bass/r&b/ghettotech filled affair.

Girl Unit – FACT Mix 154

It’s almost like it’s Night Slugs week here at Discobelle but when we get all these goodies from them we can’t refrain from posting them all. Last week saw Night Slugs crew member Girl Unit unleash this mix for Fact Magazine and it’s been on repeat here at Discobelle, one phenomenal mix blending: “mutant club music, hip-hop and R’n’B in a way that’s gripping and completely on point.”

Marcus Price & Carli

Our friends over at Palms Out just dropped this bomb of a release on us with the Marcus Price & Carli EP entitled “Mat Bira Kvinnor Weed” (which is Swedish for “Food Beer Women Weed”).

The title track can only be described as being a: “bouncy ride for your backside – sub bass booming, skittering whistles, booty bumps and scratched robot voices for days. We already fed you the Kingdom remix (other remixers include Dubbel Dutch and Crazy Pays) of said track a few months ago but we’ll give you new chance to grab it below. On the B-side we find “Var E Näääken” (which translated mean “Where is Näääken?”, Näääken being their formerly incarcerated home boy) which delves even deeper into bass cabinets destruction. Huge 808s, persistent snares, and shuffling shakers make for a huge party starter. (Remixers for the b-side are Bok Bok, Girl U.N.I.T and Norrit)

Listen to the whole EP below and then go grab yourself some serious tunes.

Girl Unit – I.R.L (Dubplate) + Nightslugs competion

New EP from our friends over at Night Slugs on monday. Girl Unit is on everybodys charts these days and the main track called “I.R.L” is just out of this world epic.

If you want to be the lucky winner of the actual dubplate in the video above answer this super easy question:

What does GIRL UNIT stand for?

and send the answer to: nightslugs [at] gmail [dot] com. The winners will be picked at random from the correct entries. Good luck!

Roulet – Kitamanda (video)

This sounds amazing! “Kitamanda” is the debut release from Roulet which will be released by Buraka Som Sistemas label Enchufada on April 13th with remixes from J-Wow, Girl Unit and Mr Gasparov.
