Yuksek – On A Train (Gucci Vump Dub Remix)

Yuksek’s video for “On a Train” struck me as an amazing example of “dance music after ‘elecrto’ ” – something soulful and melodic with enough oomph to move dancefloors at the same time. It also somehow perfectly captures the feeling of falling asleep on the Eurostar while nuclear apocalypse happens outside your window and the world starts to end.

Gucci Vump (Brodinski and Guillaume from The Shoes) add to that feeling of apocalyptic and they turned On A Train into a proper eye watering dancefloor rumbler, employing some heavy rumblings of bass to make you feel similar to that motion sick feeling you get from staring out the window for too long.

Catch Yuksek live alongside Is Tropical and Jupiter, this Friday at XOYO in London and remember that Yukek’s new album is coming out soon, pre-order it here.

Art Nouveau – Demento Mori Mix

French duo Art Nouveau just dropped their new “Air France” EP on Danish up and coming label Demento Mori, it’s a lovely affair that includes remixes from fellow frenchman Gucci Vump and US/Canadian bassenhanced combo LOL Boys. The boys threw together a fine sounding mix (that includes some Discobelle Records love) to promote the release and it’s definetely brightened up our day.

Art Nouveau – Air France / Souk EP

The new EP on Demento Mori from Reims, France housemeisters Art Nouveau is sounding pretty fresh.

Tough to pick a favorite with the clanging mariachi band clatter of “Souk” and the tropical hustle of “Air France”, but the standout might absolutely have to be their LOL Boys collaboration “Air France II”, rightfully dubbed “ephemeral juking house” by a friend. LOL Boys are known for their meme-like adaptability, but this one sounds absolutely anthemic, and possibly could usurp all their other efforts as the jam that they come to be known for authoring. The vocal sample choice alone should be used to treat depression.

Gucci Vump also turn in some work that reminds me of arriving in a Tokyo airport after a seventeen hour flight; half delirious from all the free drinks the stewardess served you, a bit nauseous from the turbulence, and trying to figure out when your ears are going to pop.

EP drops on February 28th, but to tide you over, you can listen to the whole sh-bang below:

Never Know

British musician Primary 1 AKA Joe Flory is set to unleash new single “Never Know” on December 6th, which is a taste from his upcoming debut album (with co-production from Paul Epworth and Philippe Zdar) set for release in February 2011.

Mystery producer Gucci Vump turns in a tribalistic ravey synth monster that’s guaranteed to get the dancefloor moving.

Gucci Vump – Shashtilism (video)

Discobelle exclusive video premiere.

Pomp & Clout together with Scion A/V gives us a toned down and pretty video for the hypnotizing track “Shashtilism” from Gucci Vump (taken off the Sound Pellegrino X Scion “Straight From The Spring” compilation)

Sound Pellegrino cover ok

Scion A/V x Sound Pellegrino

Scion A/V teams up with Sound Pellegrino, one of the hottest and most consistent dance music labels around, for a compilation of what only be described as some serious heaters.

Scion A/V presents: Sound Pellegrino – Straight From The Spring (zip file, direct link)

“Sound Pellegrino’s former mystery man Gucci Vump is back again with another inventive (and kind of creepy) track. “Shashtilism” updates Gucci Vump’s first single “Sha, Shtil!” with an even bigger klezmer influence and crazy ratatatatatatatatat drums.

Bambounou turns up the tempo with “Abodan,” a kicking combination of tribal percussion, laser pings and the whirls of a spaceship taking off back to the beginning of civilization.

Probably the mellow cut on this collection, Para One gets remixed by LA’s LOL Boys, bringing in spacious synth lines and understated vocal percussion.

Bart B More & Harvard Bass’ “Listen to This” hits hard from jump street with a pounding bassline and militaristic drums. From there things only get more commanding as the cross-continental duo of Bart B More and Harvard Bass piles on monumental build-ups and cliffhanger breakdowns.

Out One’s “Altamont” is a chill but pulsing track with a glitchy beat and dinner bell shine. Out One is an old friend of the Institubes crew, previously working with them as a mixer and a video director, but only started producing his own music in 2009. Welcome to our iTunes playlists!

Finnish house duo Renaissance Man’s Sound Pellegrino release from 2009 get a soulful remix from Paris’ dOP who offer a classic 4/4 beat, spoken word vocals, smooth keyboards and a hypnotic breakdown. It comes directly from outerspace(d out).

For this compilation, Momma’s Boy (an alter ego of Paris producer Mikix the Cat) brings “Bot Band Concerto.” The track sounds like it’s name would suggest – a futuro dancefloor smacker played by an orchestra of robots, blipping and blopping through the night.

On “Next Novel,” Myd & Sam Tiba manage to incorporate traces of house, electro, minimal, dubstep and Baltimore club into their track with impeccable European sophistication. We’re not sure what the sampled vocals are saying, but we’re pretty sure it’s not “Harry Potters,” like we originally thought.”
