Detroit resident and essential house music lifeforce Omar-S has a new EP! Even better, thanks to the nice folks at Scion A/V, it’s five tracks of completely free music ranging from dark dancefloor winding menaces to classical Detroit house homage.

If you’ve been sleepin on Omar-S’s latest releases -like, for example, the A-side only vinyl sleeper smash “Here’s Your Trance, Now Dance!” or the accompanying and difficult to track down Shadow Ray remix (his collaborator on the “Oasis” project, rumor is that this remix was apparently commissioned from Shadow Ray while he was in jail as part of a “rehabilitation effort” – details on that remain shady though). Also in the package for good measure, we have a collaboration with house God Theo Parrish, and news of a forthcoming album, which will be the first since 2005. Praise Omar.

Thanks to AOAO blog for putting us up on this fantastic live set from Toronto’s own melancholy gothic house duo, Art Department. Following on the heels of their debut album “The Drawing Board”, it looks like they’ve got a batch of new tricks that they recently played out at an off Sonar party in Barcelona. Featuring lots of things worth investigating, including unreleased new Art Department tracks, remixes, and a stellar remix from Gadi Mizrahi & Eli Gold on the newest Wolf + Lamb release. Some serious heat here!
