Two of our favorite production/dj duos, Acid Girls & Jokers Of The Scene, got together for one mighty fine mix where Jokers Of The Scene mixed the Acid Girls part and the Acid Girls boys returned the favor. They’re about to embark on a joint tour and this mix was done to promote what has the makings to be one whirlwind of a ride.
Greg from Acid Girls passed this onto to all of us Grindin peeps yesterday, it’s not really the style we’ve grown accustomed to from Acid Girls but it’s the perfect workday mix right now. Acid Girls will be going on tour soon together with Jokers Of The Scene, they’re also heading over to Europe in January + you shouldn’t forget to check out their recently released single “The Numbers Song” (we posted it here).
Our French buddy, the electro demon known as The Toxic Avenger, is about to release two new records on September 29th. A new 12″ entitled “Toxic Is Dead” (out on Iheartcomix and it comes backed with remixes from Drop The Lime, Franki Chan and South Central) and also a Scion CD sampler compilation of that includes 5 new original tracks and of course a myriade of heavy remixes from the likes of Switch, The Juan Maclean, Acid Girls, Jakwob, Designer Drugs, Harvard Bass, Ocelot, Ladytron and Burns. He is also heading out on a Scion release tour in October to support the CD sampler, stops will be NYC, Austin, Cleveland and Philly.
We’ve got the storming title track “Toxic Is Dead” + an absolutely stunning tribalistic remix from the oh so talented L.A duo Acid Girls of the track “любовь навсегда”.
AC Slater means business with his remix of Juiceboxxxs recently released single “100 MPH”, he brings us housey piano stabs, lazer sounds, big breakdowns and some wobble bass galore.
Our pals in L.A super duo Acid Girls with another one of their huge mixes, “Live From Snake Mountain” is representative of what Greg and Jamie are playing out at the moment, filled to the brink with excellent tracks + of course essential exclusives. This will have you up and going in no time.
Two years in the making but now the epic new single from Milwaukee born rapper/producer Juiceboxxx is about to see the light of day, it’s called “100 MPH” and will be out September 1st on IHEARTCOMIX with remixes coming from bass heavy hitter AC Slater, Brooklyn outfit Free Blood and electro duo Ocelot. Juiceboxxx ventured to the Chi to record the vocals for the track with Chicago house legends Joe Smooth and Craig Loftis, the result is:
“…a great American dance pop song, equally suited for driving really fast across the desert or pumping your fist at a show”.
Marina Vello (ex Bonde do Role singer) teams up with French chanteusse SoKo on a single that was produced by the Swedish/French duo Radioclit. The “Mum” single is part of a series of 7″s containing unreleased material that IHEARTCOMIX is doing together with Pure Groove. Each single will be limited to 300 copies, so act fast. The artwork was done by acclaimed comic book artist Robert Goodin.
The title track “Mum” is a summery, feelgood little ditty that features a sample from WAR’s “Low Rider”.
Big release coming up on IHEARTCOMIX from the fantastic LA duo Acid Girls, Greg and Jamie have been working hard for a couple of years now and they’ll reap their benefits with the release of “The Numbers Song/Lightworks” (the EP is released digitally on August 18th and on vinyl September 1st. It comes backed with remixes courtesy of Canadian powerhouse Jokers Of The Scene and Dave P & Adam Sparkles). The original track itself is a hypnotic, stompy and techy beast of a dance track that has been a staple in our dj sets for some time now, always ensuing people to collectively lose their shit.
