Branko – Ghetto Whitney

Branko (AKA J-Wow of Buraka Som Sistema fame) brings out a deadly yet soft and shuffling edit of Whitney Houston’s mega hit single “It’s Not Right But It’s Okay”.

“Had this song in my head for ages, so found the acapella and decided to do something with it for my sets. Ended up sounding pretty different to everything else i’ve done before. Just for fun, not even mastered! Hope you play it over a glass of whine while getting ready to go out clubbing!”

Red Bull Studios Mix Monday #11: Branko

Branko (formarly known as J-Wow) is the production wizard behind Buraka Som Sistema but he is also an esteemed producer/remixer in his own right. Here’s his contribution for the Red Bull Studios Mix Monday sessions, a thrilling ride through some of the best bass sounds the world has to offer.

Diamond Bass – ‘All That’

Lisbon based label Enchufada (home of Buraka Som Sistema) present their latest release: ‘Se Prepara’, the debut EP from global bass producer Diamond Bass, a trademark mix of international House/Kuduro/Baile Funk & Dubstep.

In this case, the ‘Se Prepara’ EP shows the raw power of well chopped samples and insistent Latin vocals melding over intense builds and tribal Kuduro beats, with Buraka Som Sistema member J-WOW’s Club Edit upping the tempo even further. We’ve got the unreleased Diamond Bass track “All That” to share with you, a bumping cross between traditional house and bass heavy turbulence. Grab the release @ Juno Records.

This is so amazing and full of vibes!

Brodinski – just in time for Christmas – comes through with a follow up to his Best Of Everything compilations of electro and hip hop that hit the web hard back in July. This volume sees the French top class producer/dj commission some of his dj/production buddies such as Bok Bok, Brenmar, Dubbel Dutch, French Fries, J-Wow, Nguzunguzu, Renaissance Man and Wildlife! for 16 tracks of outstanding club worthy swag. Spark

J-Wow, AKA Joao Barbosa the dj of acclaimed Portuguese kuduro collective Buraka Som Sistema, will drop his new single “Spark” on own label Enchufada October 18th. “Spark” gives us that stripped down raw kuduro feel with a trademark booty shaking bass and infectious synth lines. New shining star, French producer Canblaster topples the track over and gives it a hypnotically looped synthbased feel.

Robyn – Dancing On My Own (video, live from David Letterman July 19th)

Robyn performing her melancholic summer jam – “Dancing On My Own” (check the remix from J-Wow of Buraka Som Sistema over here) – on Letterman last night.

Robyn – Dancing On My Own (J Wow Smoked Summer Mix)

We haven’t got much information about this one more then that it’s a remix from J Wow (from Buraka Som Sistema) of Robyn‘s new single from her new album both released today. It’s really a hot smoked summer mix!
