Jokers of The Scene – Mix for Electric Fields

The place to be this week seems to be Ottawa, Canada. The multi media festival Electric Fields hosts a couple of great parties aswell as discussions about art, science and technology.

Local dj stars Jokers of the Scene produced a mixtape to promote the festival.

Jokers Of The Scene – Baggy Bottom Boys

Scion keeps dropping heat with the help of some of the hottest labels around. Their latest release is a double remix CD done in collaboration with Fools Gold Records and it’s jam packed with goodies. The first disc features brand-new remixes of Fool’s Gold artists by everyone from Chromeo to Surkin to Jori Hulkkonen, the second disc is a “24 Karat Hits” mix by Nick Catchdubs featuring some of the biggest tracks from Fools Gold in the past year.

Ottawas own Jokers Of The Scene be killing it with this epic pianolaced remix of their own ravey stomper “Baggy Bottom Boys”. We can’t wait for their “Acid Bagg EP” to drop…

This remix from Canadian club killers JOTS of that “The Lake” track by Muscles is epic.

Jokers Of The Scene – Mishka mix

New York clothing label Mishka presents their new bi-monthly mix/podcast series. It’s entitled Keep Watch and to kick things off we have those crazy Canadians that we’ve all grown to love, Jokers Of The Scene. They bring us a mindblowing mix (just look at that tracklist) that’s guaranteed to make you dance.

Artwork by Arthur Röing

Grahm from Thunderheist just threw this our way. Two of our favorite T Dot duos in a collaboration! DJ/producers Andrew Ross and Scott Seewhale AKA Nacho Lovers provides us with an amazing stripped down and savvy techhouse remix of “Jerk It” (the EP is set to be released on July 11th), it features swirling synths but Isis swagger sounds just as deadly as on the original version.

PS. Check our French brethren in Fluokids for the equally banging Jokers Of The Scene remix.

PS 2. Aleks Discodust has the final remastered original version of “Jerk It”.

Nadastrom

Since I’m out of words on how to write another post about American Boy I’m going to leave it to the promo mail we got:

“Washington, DC figureheads Dave Nada and Matt Nordstrom first joined forces in the fall of 2007 for their weekly party “trap”. Every week after some heavy drinking, the two discussed the meaning of life and a few song ideas they had. Their initial tracks caught the attention of Dave “Switch” Taylor who immediately wanted them for his legendary Dubsided imprint. With tunes getting support from the likes of Diplo, A-trak, Tittsworth, The Rub, Craze, Klever, Drop the Lime, and Jokers of the Scene, these dudes look to set the game on fire. Here’s a preview…”

New NADASTROM EP coming soon on Dubsided! Stay tuned for an all new Dubsided website!!

Nacho Lovers edit

There must be something in the water over there in Canada, we here at Discobelle have been posting tons of artists from the fair country and it just seems to be an endless supply of top notch producers/dj’s.

You might have heard about Nacho Lovers when they’ve dropped their incredible remixes and edits on the unsuspecting blogosphere. Their housey remix of the Jokers Of The Scene track “Y’all Know The Name” is stellar and our favorite out of the bunch. They are about to release their debut record come summertime, “Go On/Acid Life EP” will be out on on Fools Gold Records (who seem to be scooping some of the hottest names in the game). This funky chopped up edit (it even throws some Cutty Ranks vocals on top) of that Style Of Eye track “The Big Kazoo” is just what we needed to get by the rest of the week.

Kid Cudi + JOTS remixes

Well, we’ve been slacking a bit here at Discobelle. The other day we got some info in the mail from Nick Catchdubs (one of the head honchos of Fools Gold) about the latest Fools Gold releases – Kid Cudi and Jokers Of The Scene – from Nick Catchdubs but neglected to throw it up so you’ve probably already seen it elsewhere.

Anyway, we dig Kid Cudis laidback melodic singstyle rap and then of course the Crookers boys can do no wrong with their remix of “Day N Nite”. Also, the canadian club monsters known as Jokers of The Scene brings us one giant ravetastic release destined for the big rooms with “Y’all Know The Name” on which our old aquintance William Russell proves his ready for the major leagues with his remix of b-side “Juggle It”.
