Joyce Muniz – Pulp Fiction

Joyce Muniz‘s funky, percussion-heavy DJ sets – covering everything from Afro beats to tropical tech, electro, and house – have already garnered her a huge international following, and Pulp Fiction, on Exploited Records is a direct reflection of her “serious sweating on the dancefloor” style. The title track is melodic and lighthearted, a party jacking house track with subtle pop moments. Tech-ed out chords and the smooth vocals drive the excellent “Morning Love,” and “Pray for Peace” is full of futuristic afro-tropical house vibes. The jacking, warm “Back Down” also stands out, and “New In Town” rounds out the release on a stripped-down, soulful deep house note.

Already gathering some serious praise from Skream, Maya Jane Coles, Round Table Knights, Martin Dawson, Ian Pooley, Laurent Garnier, Mosca, Ewan Pearson, Hudson Mohawke, CatznDogs, Joe Goddard/Hot Chip, Munk, Alex Barck/Jazzanova and more, this EP combines some serious tech house heat while still keeping the playful, floor friendly style responsible for Joyce’s ever growing fanbase.

Exploited will be releasing the dub versions of the EP and two bonus tracks in the following two weeks. Meanwhile grab the originals at BEATPORT, I-TUNES or JUNO and listen to a Soundcloud teaser of the EP below. Finally, check out the freshly renovated Exploited Records blog, a fountain of fresh content and videos from the excellent label.

Munk Feat. Joyce Muniz – Mis Labios (Black Van Remix)

Joyce Muniz’s vocals are the perfect topping on this Latinohouse jam by Munk, based on a Salsa piano riff played by Mathias Modica.

Joyce Muniz – Carnaval Mixtape 2011

Like Humphrey Bogart said in a classic movie: I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship…

Joyce Muniz provided us with an amazing Carnival mixtape last year and the Carnival season is upon us once again so we continue the tradition but this time we get the classics. Take it away Joyce!

“Another year passed, back again in cold freezing Vienna while my friends in Brasil already prepare for Carnival. I do get a lot of inspriation from listening to traditional Brasilian Music. Therefore, the next installment for my Carnival mixtape for Discobelle focusses more on the old Brasil stuff. I was lucky enough to spend my entire last 3 days with this mix listening to tons of old Brasil Vinyl records putting them all back into my latop. This is not only Tropical – this here is the original Brasil shit!!”

FEX FELLINI – NEW ORLEANS

Fex Fellini brings a new EP on his Globelle imprint, bringing together three sounds from localized dance music centers of the world. The guitar tinged techy romper “New Orleans” matches the sweaty, gasping-for-breath feeling of “Mumbai” in terms of energy, but “Barcelona” gets a bit deeper and weirder, with a submerged sonar frequency that makes the rusty horns sounding off underneath. It’s no surprise that it’s already garnered big feedback from folks like Claude Von Stroke, Zombie Nation, Round Table Knights and more.

Listen to a sampler of the EP here, and then also observe this very fresh Top Billin mix Fex recently dropped on the world, which features some serious heat from LOL Boys, Mercury, Joyce Muniz & Luca Lozano.

BONUS:

Fex did us the honor of sharing a radio edit of “New Orleans” not available to buy anywhere for your jacking house listening pleasure.

Spooky Dusty

After the success of the recent edit by Dutch production duo Homework of Lenny Kravitz, we have another exclusive track for you from the fine people over at Exploited Records.

This edit of Dusty Springfield is in a similar funky and soulful vein but this time done up in a soothing style by Brazilian/Austrian producer Joyce Muniz, the track is given out in order to let people know that her new release “Bedstories” drops today and it’s described as sounding a little like this: “Joyce Muniz has a knack for making percussive music that resonates in the weird crevasses of the human mind, and her latest offering is no exception. Imagine a smoke and lazer-filled drum circle where everyone’s chugging cough syrup and you’re beginning to get the idea.”

Mixin’ It Up: Joyce Muniz

“While me and my homies freeze our asses in Europe, my homies in Brazil celebrate the most beautiful and colourful party in the year. So, in the spirit of Carnival, I decided to mixed some of my favourite tropical tech tunes. In this carnival mix you can get to hear some upcoming tunes from Beware and Motorpitch, Acid Kids, Zombies for Money or Edu K, as well as some bonafied tropical bangers. I also put in my latest release on Man Recordings: Ku Bo “Mela” (Lazy ants remix). Enjoy it and feel the sunshine…
