Nic Xedro – See You In The Club

We first met Nic Xedro when we played in Berlin the first time and from that fun filled, sweat infusing live show of his we knew that we hadn’t heard the last of him.

His debut single “See You In The Club” dropped yesterday on Crushed Records and comes packed with some powerful remixes from label heads Purple Crush, Krames, WZRDZ, Leif and Boody B. Included in the package is the remix from two of our favorite French dj’s/producers, namely the club destroying duo known as Kazey & Bulldog who brings us their signature b-more heat that contains an evil yet infectious synthline twist + a remix from Australian newcomer Hugga Thugg who just relocated to London and he gives us an intense electroish party starter of a remix.

“There is an air of mystery that surrounds Nic Xedro that is both confusing and intoxicating. Like a hipster T-Pain with a Soho artist following akin to Basquiat, his music oozes metrosexuality with a yearning to discover his pop sensibilities. And it doesn’t stop at the recordings; his live show is like watching a circus with dancers, freaks in masks, and a silent spotlight carrying character who follows the diva as he saunters across the stage. The scene gets set, the vibe sinks in, and the audience is left thinking about one thing, sex.”

Purple Crush – Busy Boys

Hot on the heels of their recent European takeaover, Purple Crush release the first single “Busy Boys” (will be released on November 18th) which is taken off their latest EP “Blog Party”. The EP has already seen alot of exposure on the blogs.

This remix by Krames starts out as a venture into a darker electro sound than we’ve heard from him in the past but then about halfway through the track hits a break, in comes the B-more horns and then you know where he takes it. Other remixes of the single comes from South African ghetto duo Sweat X, Danish producer Jens Fokking, label mate Mike Genius, Palms Out Sounds affiliate Norrit and the track’s namesake The Get Busy Boys.

Start The Violence!

Krames is back with his “Start The Violence!” project. A couple of weeks ago we posted a track he did with Rye Rye and a mixtape sampler he did for NAME Ribbon. Now he delivers two more bangers.

This is the way his sidekick Nick the Duke describes STV!

“Start The Violence! is a project built around a crossover style of electronic music. By combining elements of bassline, club, and jack house, Start The Violence! is set to change the game. They already worked w/ Rye Rye , Kocky & Tinchy Stryder , San Serac , and DJ Wool and have upcoming digital release of original tracks featuring DJ Fatboy from Harlem, SLUTTT, Cerebal Vortex and other vocal artists. STV! currently lives in NYC working on causing a riot in the club.”

@Nick and Krames: Thanks for the good times you guys showed me in NYC the last couple of weeks. I’m looking forward to seeing you soon again!

DJ Wool

DJ Wool, one half of The Glass, is a busy man. He’s got a 12″ called “Gangsters & Models” coming out on Pale Music with remixes from DJ Krames and The Scandals. He has also been in the studio for 3 months mixing Tittsworth‘s debut album. On top of that he is packing up all his stuff and moving to Berlin for a while. But before his turntables got stuffed away for the move he made this mix to say goodbye to Brooklyn.

In Berlin he will be remixing the new The Glass album and doing DJ-gigs around Europe.

Welcome to Europe!

The Groove That Just Won’t Stop

Mike from cornerstone tried to get me to listen to Time Machine when their video first hit youtube. I was to busy and forgot to look them up then, but when Martin put the remix from Dave Nada up on the site I was on board. Sorry for not listening to you Mike, I’m a fan now.

Anyway the album release and tour dates is set for the new Time Machine record. So pick up the album “Life Is Expensive” when it hits the stores on May 20th.

Kocky (Krames remix)

Kocky is back with the new album “Stadium Status” (drops on April 30th) and this new single “4 Ever Juvenile” sees grime poster boy Tinchy Stryder throwing some bars. The La Vida Locash crew hit us up with this hot clubified remix by Krames, one of our favorite dj’s/producers right now who we’ll be happy to see make it big in 2008. A fidgety and wobbly bassline combined with that housey beat and some sweet soulful singing from Daniel Dermes + rapping from Tinchy makes this a lethal combination.

Also, La Vida Locash are putting together a label night and relaseparty for “Stadium Status” with performances from among others Kocky, Alexis Weak, Noonie Bao and Adrian Lux etc. It will all go down on May 2nd at Hux Flux in Stockholm and the whole thing will be broadcasted live on the interweb by Arena Grande. So, it doesn’t matter if you’re sitting in an apartment in New York or chillin’ on a beach in Australia, you’ll be able to check out some of the finest Sweden has to offer. The event will, according to the La Vida Locash boys, “be completely insane”!

Plus, our southern Sweden peeps will be able to catch Kocky with Familjen on the 24th in Lund together with our friends in Pastell Crew. If you wanna win a free ticket, just holla at us before wednesday (23/4) with the answer to this question: What was the production name Kocky used when he did hip-hop beats back in the day?

Purple Crush

Been a while since we heard from Purple Crush but now they have a new release out. “Shopping On The Dancefloor remix EP” features remixes from AC Slater, Krames, Shir Khan and Mike Genius.

L.A party/feel good throwback hip-hop group Time Machine recently bursted on to the scene with their track “The Groove That Just Won’t Stop” and they’re gearing up for the June release of their album “Life Is Expensive”. The b-side track “Something We’re Becoming” (features Maggie Horn) comes backed up by remixes galore from some hot hot producers such as Discobelle faves Scottie B and Krames. We got our mitts on the Dave Nada remix and just as the tracks on his recent EP for T&A Records, this remix pops off and is ready for the club.
