The latest edition of our Discobelle mix series comes from an old friend based out of Miami, Lazaro Casanova has been churning out rolling, warm sounding and undeniably groovy house tunes since 2006 with releases on labels such as Murk, Leftroom, Culprit, Get Physical, Nervous as well as their sub-label, Nurvous and should be considered one of the great dj’s/producers coming out of the US.

Lazaro started his own label petFood back in 2008 focusing on deep house and the label has released music from big names such as Waze & Odyssey, Urulu, No Artificial Colours, Poupon etc. Last year he became the manager of legendary label Murk which has seen him working closely with house music legends Oscar G and Ralph Falcon.

This one hour long mix for us here at Discobelle is the perfect companion to the weekend ahead with its hypnotizing groove and seamless mixing of house tracks that all omit a suggestive groove and a warmth that makes us long to be back in Miami.

Mojito Mojo

Oct 15 2010

The petFood label was started by Miami producer and Discobelle fam Lazaro Casanova (currently on tour in Europe) together with L.A based DJ/producer Jay-You, the label is focused on house, techno and minimal with a heavy Afro-Cuban influence. Now up to its ninth release which sees Brazilian production madman Edu K giving us an EP of heavy hitting tribal techhouse. “Mojito Mojo” comes packed with remixes from label head honcho Lazaro Casanova, DC duo Nadastrom and this one courtesy of Miami dj/producer Gil Montiel who hands in a stomping, groovy monster which is sure to set off dancefloors across the globe.

We got so many great remixes for Femme En Fourrure’s single “Dirty Blonde” that we decided to release it in two parts. This time we give you remixes from Marcus Price, French Fries & Manaré, Raziek, MYD, Lazaro Casanova. We also got a dub from MadKids and a brand new track from Femme En Fourrure. Their new track “Banana” takes them in a
new direction and we like where they take us!

Miami based producer Lazaro Casanova is one of our favorite dj’s and producers, always bringing that smooth and funky techhouse flavor. We commissioned him to do one of the remixes for the upcoming Femme En Fourrure “Dirty Blonde Remixes” EP (out next week on Discobelle Records) and not only did he bring us an mindblowingly amazing remix that’s perfect for the beginning of the night, he also provided us with this exclusive mix that contains full on summer vibes.

BONUS: A playful take on the Lily Allen (an old favorite here at Discobelle) track “Not Fair” that he just finished which stretches out the track, he uses just the right amount of her vocals along with some handclaps and funky drums to make this into a winner.

The Healer

Mar 30 2010

We’ve been keeping a close eye on Miami producer/dj, not to mention fellow Grinder, Lazaro Casanova for quite some time now. He’s been keeping busy honing his skills down in the sun and now he gives us a split EP together with the legendary Oscar G. “Tropicasa” is one splendid latin/tribal house release, both the original version and this Oscar G remix of the track “The Healer” has been staples in our sets for months. It brings forth James Brown AKA “The Godfather of Soul” and pits him off this dancefloor stomper.
