Luca Lozano – Lovecast 002

British born but Berlin based house/techno guru Luca Lozano is in charge of Klasse Recordings that this past year have sailed up to be one of the top dance music labels around with a string of serious releases. They’re rounding out the year with the massive compilation “KLSUNDERGROUND001″ (more info on that here), yet he still finds time for a busy schedule of dj gigs along with mixes such as this one for UK site Mud Love, the mix is described as: “lying somewhere between the dark side of techno and the soul of house,“deep, dark and intense emotions, often contrasting tranquil with boisterous, hot with cold and joyous with melancholic. All in all, its a hard to place, nonetheless what I can tell you is that it’s damm gooooood!”

KLSKLSKLS

Klasse Recordings Giveaways EP

The week kicks off with a tidal wave sized flood of music – first up is KLSUNDERGROUND001, which Klasse Recordings’ first foray into the various artists compilation field – five tracks from associated friends of the label, including a genius track from recent Discobelle Records artists Viadrina.

You can stream all of KLSUNDERGROUND001 right here, but because making indisposable quality dance music for the masses apparently isn’t enough for Luca Lozano and co, they’ve assembled a gigantic EP on Soundcloud for free download, ten edits, remixes and original productions that hit the sweet spot for any fan of deeply satisfying, reverberatingly original house music.

We’ve already given some praise to Johanna Knutsson’s effortlessly smooth Sinnamon rework, but Mr. Ho’s Notorious B.I.G inspired reworking of the Isley Brothers is a welcome surprise. Elsewhere, Pol_On transforms Shakedown’s “At Night” into a pitch bended mutation of its previous incarnation, and Luca Lozano comes dangerously close to outshining everyone else on the EP with two efforts – the seamlessly bumping, rolling falsetto groove of “Full Black” and an edit of “Let Me Show You Love” that sounds like you’re right there in the recording booth with Romanthony, bottle of champagne in each hand, alternating between yelling the chorus, slurring your words and tipsily dancing around with headphones on.

Listen to them all, download them all, and don’t forget to grab the first (of many, hopefully) Klasse compilation right here.

Hold On

Consistently superb Klasse Recordings are back again with a new release from Austrian tastemaker Florian Blauensteiner, who delivers a perfectly paced house ballad with new single “Hold On” that merges classic house with billowing, dry ice smoke machine emitting tech sounds with a slinking bassline and classicly satisfying reverberating synth stabs.

It’s enough to make you want to dust off your old Romanthony records, or maybe to just keep the remixes that SLG and Klasse boss Luca Lozano provided for the release, which is now available on Beatport.

Our Thang

Berlin based producer Nhan Solo teams up with fellow Berliner and Discobelle buddy Daniel Dexter for the release of new single “Our Thang” (playlisted by alot of top dj’s already). The title track sees the duo giving us a warm, soulful and bonafied techhouse hit, a cheeky sample is thrown in and it will have all the 90′s hip hop fans nodding their heads. Remixes comes from talented producers such as Luca Lozano, Sacha Robotti, Andre Crom and Martin Dawson.

BONUS: Nhan Solo did a tasty promo mix for the Off Recordings podcast series in order to celebrate the release:

klasse09

Luca Lozano – Out Of Step EP + Klasse Records Giveaway

When Luca Lozano’s first EP sampling 20th Century Band’s steel drum definitive classic “Heaven and Hell” came out back in January, it immediately shot to the top of my “on repeat” playlist. Transforming the original’s melancholy reflections on humanity into a fog-machine filled clap inducing house stomper that kept the impact of the chorus intact, if not slightly re-arranged, it was an instant winter anthem.

Now it’s hard to believe that Klasse Recordings are nearing their 10th release only eight months later in the form of KLS009, a new EP from Luca Lozano. Titled the “OUT OF STEP” EP, it’s a moody old school tinged double track release featuring reworkings from Detroit native Kris Wadsworth and Tel Aviv’s Red Axes which will definitely be taking a prime position in your record bag (the Ian Mackaye cover art alone is deserving).

The EP sees a full release on both vinyl and digital formats on the 9th of September, and September 3rd also sees the return of the Klasse Recordings label party, KLASSE NACHT. This time the guest is Mr. Rafael Kakudo, the Polish born DJ and producer whose recent ‘Work EP’ is now on its umpteenth vinyl re-press, after seeing support and applause from mainstage players such as DJ Sneak, Shlomi Aber and Josh Wink. Playing alongside him will be the Klasse staples, including Luca Lozano, Mr. Ho, Johanna Knutsson and James Creed.

We’re also hosting a little competition over here at Discobelle – anyone who answers this question can score a free vinyl copy of KLS009 and a snazzy Klasse tote bag:

Which band originally wrote the song ‘Out of Step’?

Email your answers here before September 3rd and check out a video teaser for the release and some Soundcloud snippets below!

Back Camera

NAT SELF – MR. MONKEY (RACHEL BARTON REMIX)

From the first listen to Nat Self of Zombie Disco Squad’s re-edit of Edwin Starr’s protest song “War”, I was hooked. It took all the oomph and fun of a classic track, and repackaged it in some bumpy house anthem that kept all the sincerity of the vocals of the original while maintaining an infectious jacking house energy.

Whereas the solo work from Luca Lozano (the other half of the duo) for Klasse Recordings honed in on a bit more of the minimal elements of ZDS’s productions, the new “Dinner Party On The Moon” EP from Nat on the notably emerging Jackmode Music label feels like a much more unhinged version of Zombie Disco Squad trax – rave anthems to be blasted at a festival while intermittently blowing on a whistle and grinding your teeth.

Grab a Rachel Barton remix of one of the bounciest cuts from the EP below:

FEX FELLINI – NEW ORLEANS

Fex Fellini brings a new EP on his Globelle imprint, bringing together three sounds from localized dance music centers of the world. The guitar tinged techy romper “New Orleans” matches the sweaty, gasping-for-breath feeling of “Mumbai” in terms of energy, but “Barcelona” gets a bit deeper and weirder, with a submerged sonar frequency that makes the rusty horns sounding off underneath. It’s no surprise that it’s already garnered big feedback from folks like Claude Von Stroke, Zombie Nation, Round Table Knights and more.

Listen to a sampler of the EP here, and then also observe this very fresh Top Billin mix Fex recently dropped on the world, which features some serious heat from LOL Boys, Mercury, Joyce Muniz & Luca Lozano.

BONUS:

Fex did us the honor of sharing a radio edit of “New Orleans” not available to buy anywhere for your jacking house listening pleasure.
