Nights Like Bonita

A highly addictive new mash-up of Icona Pop’s hyped up single “Nights Like This” and Madonna’s 1987 classic mega hit “La Isla Bonita” surfaced yesterday and it’s already received airplay on Swedish National Radio. This is a match that works surprisingly well and it might be a testament to the influences of Icona Pop’s electro/dance/pop sound.

Safe House Staff

Stockholm outfit Safe House Staff is a collective consisting of rappers Nimo, Näääk, Marcus Price, RahBalder and Sexfemman along with dj’s Kojak and Lickshot. They just released their debut EP “Staff Only” (on Slang Musik) on which you’ll find partybangers with razorsharp flowing rhymes and tweaked bassheavy production from Marcus Price and Kristoffer Malmsten.

We at Discobelle received two exclusive remixes of the track “När Dom Frågar Vem” for your downloading and listening pleasure. The first one is a mash up done by Marcus Price where he blends the track with the old “bushy bushy” dancehall riddim and the second one comes from skwee producer and Flogsta Danshall member Drums who also throws in some twisted dancehall flavour.

Camel – Blow Up

Talented Italian producer Camel has been locked in his studio for the last few months, putting the finishing touches on his “Blow Up EP”. It’s the second EP to drop on the newly started Jackmode record label and it will be released on August 30th. For those of you that already are familiar, you know what to expect: moody yet groovy, samplebased techhouse that twists into your brain and won’t let go. The good people at the Jackmode conglomerate have given us a mix (and interview) that Camel recently did for Pulse Radio, a preview of the whole EP + and exclusive track in the form of a live Green Velvet mash up from Zombie Disco Squader Nat Self! “Teddybears delivering yet another gem in their mash/remix bonanza melting superduper fine mc Eve’s “Rocket Scientist” over some Fab Five Taxman creating a PhillySteak Sandwich/Bangers and Mash. Is it healthy? No. But she never sounded more delicious than this: “This is mission control, what is your status? – Super bitchin! I’m ten feet tall and solid gold and I demand submission!”

It’s Wednesday and time for the second edition of the Teddybears remix/mash-up series in anticipation of their upcoming “Devil’s Music” album.

“This time Teddybears got Gnarls Barkley’s Cee-Lo Green singing about his cat…or is he talking about something else? The beat sounds familiar…Is it Coxsone Dodd’s crown jewel – Real Rock, Augustos Pablo? Armagideon Time? And as if that wasn’t enough to get you motor revving, none other than the luscious vixens Kate & Cindy of the B 52′s throw in some moaning and groaning and miiiaowing for good measure and Fred Schneider sings a verse about how his kitty is so soft and sweet and warm and fuzzy…How about that for a double entendre?

Does all this sound confusing to you? Far-fetched? Psycho? It’s all as natural and fresh as a spring breeze though, in the wonderful universe of Teddybears.”
