The intro of Chris Lake’s remix of Prince’s “FUNKNROLL” sounds very much like the intro to Midnight Juggernauts’ flip of Dragonette’s “I Get Around,” which I’m not mad about since I love that track so much. After a heavily percussive intro, Chris Lake’s remix of “FUNKNROLL” opens into an even fatter and louder variety of percussion, resulting in an uptempo energetic flip that’s guaranteed to make your booty pop.

The Australians in Midnight Juggernauts just dropped this new video and single “Lara Versus The Savage Pack” (single out on November 1st with remixes from PVT and Electric Six) out of the blue. Along with it comes this remix from L.A/Montreal duo LOL Boys that transforms the dark electronic psychrock of the Australian trio into a beatridden tropical breeze. It starts out slow and a bit moody, then the cut up vocals kick in and we’re left with our finger on the repeat button. (Via Slutty Fringe)

Acéphale Records is one of our favorite labels and they’ve so far had a pretty stellar roster with the likes of Salem, Korallreven, CFCF, Memory Tapes and Midnight Juggernauts. Here’s a pretty mixtape from label boss and fellow Grinder Patrik North. Should work wonders on a rainy sunday like today…

Midnight Juggernauts are working on releasing the followup (due early 2010) to their debut album “Dystopia” and as a first taste we get their new single “This New Technology” (release date is October 9th, the single will come backed with remixes from Emperor Machine, Nile Delta and Weird Tapes) which is packed with dark driving rhythms contrasting the rest of the poppy synth laced track. Following the digital release of the single, a limited edition 7″ will be released by the wonderful Acéphale Records (home to Salem, Air France, Memory Tapes) which is available for pre-order here.

The release coincides with a national headline tour by Midnight Juggernauts across Australia, and appearances at the CMJ Music Festival in New York during October including a headline performance at the URB party.
