Mishka Presents: Keep Watch Vol. 12 – Rusko

NYC clothing label Mishka with the 12th installment of their Keep Watch mix series and they’re doing it huge again with this mix courtesy of Leeds born and now L.A based dubstep head honcho Rusko.

“While still on his American tour, Rusko – one of our favorite UK dubstep practitioners has come through for us with Keep Watch 12. Incorporating live tracks from the aforementioned tour, Ruskoʼs unique mix of dark yet upbeat production fits the keep watch series perfectly and weʼre honored to bring you Keep Watch XII – Rusko.”

Mishka presents: Ninjasonik – Darth Baño mix

Ninjasonik has always been known – and liked – for their left of center music that falls somewhere between Digital Underground and GG Allin. First it was art school girls, now it’s Mexican Star Wars. The rap-slash-indie-slash-punk-slash-electronic outfit from Brooklyn is back at it again but this time with Telli the rapper’s alter-ego Darth Baño.

This time Darth Baño is in the form of a mix in conjunction with native BK neighbors Mishka. The mix features an all-star cast of musical guests such as Spank Rock, Theophilus London, The Death Set, Blaqstarr, Hollywood Holt, Johnny Nelson, Zakee Kuduro, and many more. Highlights not only the musical genius of Telli, but also the vast and highly eclectic influence of Mishka, Darth Baño silences anybody who thinks Ninjasonik only knows how to write songs about tight jeans and the internet. It’s a mixtape, better yet an album, better yet a movement. Get involved.”

Mishka presents: Keep Watch Vol. 10 – Major Lazer

Another mix filled with goodness from Major Lazer. This is the 10th installment of the Mishka Keep Watch Mix Series and it’s a winner.

“Major Lazer is a Jamaican commando who lost his arm in the secret Zombie War of 1984. The US military rescued him and repurposed experimental lazers as prosthetic limbs. Since then Major Lazer has been a hired renegade soldier for a rogue government operating in secrecy underneath the watch of M5 and the CIA. His cover is that of a dancehall night club owner from Trinidad and he enlisted the help of long-time allies and uber-producers, Diplo and Switch, to produce his first LP. His true mission is to protect the world from the dark forces of evil that live just under the surface of a civilized society. He fights vampires and various monsters, parties hard, and has a rocket powered skateboard.”

Mishka presents: Keep Watch Vol. 9 – Congorock

The Mishka Keep Watch Mix Series has reached the ninth edition and this time they head over to Milan, Italy and provides us with a stomping mix from one of the up and coming producers in the game – namely Congorock.

“…This months Keep Watch comes courtesy of Congorock, and fuses together every conceivable genre in electronic music to create a sound all its own. Completely balanced, it’s a perfect mix to kick off spring and summer with, featuring a range of the biggest tracks from the darker side of the spectrum to the poppy, lighter side of things. Here’s a forty minute look into what’s happening in Italys underground dance scene.

Citing influences from Dubsided to Capcom, Congorock blends together a range of styles to create his own brand of effervescent house. Originally from the southern town of Lecce, Congorock now calls Milan home, and his music is very rapidly crossing borders worldwide. Having recently released his first EP for Fools Gold “Runark”, Congorock joins the ranks with Crookers and Bloody Beetroots at the top of Italy’s burgeoning electronic scene.”

RFUS_CDCoverFront

Radio Friendly Unit Shifter 2009 Mixtape

Another sweet little mixtape presented by the people over at Mishka, Brooklyns finest clothing label. This one comes courtesy of Nick Catchdubs and Mr Ducker and it’s the sequel to their 90′s alternative “Radio Friendly Unit Shifter” mixtape that they put out less than a year ago.

“When Nick Catchdubs and I were putting together the first volume of our alt mixtape Radio Friendly Unit Shifter, it quickly became obvious that one volume wouldn’t be enough. So here we are now, back to entertain you with more super deluxe hits, under-appreciated album cuts and the utter weirdness that passed for major label singles in the 1990s. (And yes, we know “Wave of Mutilation” came out in ‘89, but honestly, in what decade did you start fucking with Doolittle?). From Seattle fuzz to Judgement Night gems, we present all the angst and nonsense of the alternative nation as seamlessly mixed party music, with plenty of movie samples and in-jokes thrown in for good measure.

Our gracious patrons at Mishka say they love what we’ve done, and we hope you feel the same. As for what we set aside for RFUS III… All we’ll say is that we still haven’t even used anything by Nirvana that wasn’t on Incesticide.
- Mr. Ducker”

Mishka presents: Keep Watch Vol. 7 – Trouble & Bass Crew

kw7tb_cdcoverfront

Another huge one from Mishka who really spoiled us this last year with their solid mixtape series. The seventh installment features Star Eyes, The Captain and Drop the Lime from Trouble & Bass and they provides us with a collection of the latest heavy rave anthems. Get retarded ya’ll!!!

This Mishka collabo with Trouble and Bass seems only logic since Luca aka DTL is one of the cover faces for Mishka and both the T&B label and Mishka is Brooklyn based.

“Trouble & Bass is the sound of staying up all night and getting wild in the streets, sweat dripping off the walls and speakers pounding in your face. For the last four years, T&B has brought raw energy back to dancefloors worldwide by effortlessly flipping bass music in all its forms. The crew is full of surprises, taking influences from house, electro, dubstep, drum & bass, metal and hip-hop to form an entirely new genre simply known as “heavy bass.””

Mishka presents: Keep Watch Vol. 6 – Skream

Huge mix for the Mishka Keep Watch Series from Skream who happens to be the wonder producer of the UK dubstep scene.

“A perfect example of the dark and grimy vibes coming out of the dubstep underground, Skream unleashes what we can only describe as bass bazookas into your headphones and speakers. The mix goes from heavy and murky to quick and danceable and calms it down near the end with a soulful outro.”

Mishka presents: Keep Watch Vol. 5 – Mixhell

Brazilian husband/wife duo Mixhell (Iggor and Lalma Cavalera) have gone from strength to strength in the past year and are now in demand remixers for some of the hottest acts around. This is their mix for the Mishka Keep Watch mix series and it’s something of an electro storm that’s guaranteed to bring the house down.

“Relentlessly heavy, the mix combines old favorites spanning at least a few genres as well as introducing original Mixhell tracks – ranging from trance inducing soundscapes to drum beats that need to be danced to.”

Nadastrom – Mishka mix

Dave Nada and Matt Nordstrom are Nadastrom, they’ve been churning out some clubdestroying remixes lately. Here’s their exquisite mix for Mishkas Keep Watch Mix Series. It’s only tuesday but when you bump this it feels like the weekend is already upon us, straight up heat!

“This is some weird ass shit. We got all kinds of grooves. We got it all player. You wanna do it uptempo? We can do it uptempo. You wanna do it slow? Shiiit we do it slow. As long as you go down south girl you know what it is (oooh!). Yeah, just keep your ass shaking to this shit. This is Nadastrom baby, this is how we get down.”
