After doing one of the tightest Mixin’ It Ups in Discobelle history, Minneapolis own Mike The 2600 King brings us a sweet and smooth disco mix that pretty much saved us at work this week. Here’s the lodown:

“I recorded this mix of disco and related music in commemoration of the premier of Street Sounds Swirlin Through My Mind - a new dance night in Minneapolis focusing on classic dance music from the 1970s through early 1990s, focusing heavily on real disco and early Chicago house.”

Somewhere in Aspen

Sunday, October 5th, 2008

Luminfire who runs the music blog Ants in My Trance sent over his latest mix. If you are a faithful reader of Discobelle you might remember his “We got mail” back in 2007. This time, instead of finding us the heat, he brings the heat with his brand new mix.

“The mix is called *Somewhere in Aspen*. The title is a reference to a T-Pain lyric off his song “Can’t Believe It”: “I’ll put you in the log cabin/Somewhere in Aspen.” The actual mix has nothing to do with T-Pain, but I thought the concept was pretty funny. The mix itself is pop-oriented. It features a lot of new stuff as well as ’70s/’80s throwback.”

“My section has a bunch of weird stuff I like, and Pocketknife’s has the same, but also with some new ’sclusives.”

We’ve featured Italian producer His Majesty Andre in the past and here’s his latest mix. If you start out with the Scottie B remix of Weezys huge track “A Milli” then you definetely got us hooked and after that Andre just continues to deliver the goodness with an excellent selection and some smooth mixing. He also throws in a couple of his own exclusive tracks due out on the Cheap Thrills label (run by Joshua Harvey AKA Hervé). (Thanks to Nelly from Disturbed Beats)

Sound Quake - Strive For Excellence

Thursday, October 2nd, 2008

I spent a lot of money at Sound Quake back when they had just started up, this was when I still was dj’ing ragga. Best store out there for 7 inches from Jamaica. Now, it’s time for them to pay me back for all the money I spent there by giving us a new mix. Well, maybe it had nothing to do with the money I spent, but it is still a great mix of the finest from Jamaica.
