This time we travel to Essex for the next chapter in the Mixin’ It Up tale.

I’m DJ Cable, from Essex, UK. I’m one of the 2008 & 2009 DMC UK Team Champions – “Bionic Stylus” – the 2008 Alizé Remixed Champion, and most recently, the Vice Magazine x Grolsch Block Party Mix Champion. Competitions aside, I make electronic music, and also do the whole club thing. I’d describe my style as a cross-genre mashup between Hip Hop & bass-heavy club music, throwing in some turntablism along the way.

My mix is a selection of Dubstep & Grime tracks (both old and new) that I’m into at the moment, accompanied with a tiny bit of scratching here and there; Nothing too intricate though, as I wanted the tunes to speak for themselves. I hope you all enjoy the mix :)

Lastly..if you’re ever in the Norwich area, I’m a resident for a monthly club night called “POW!”, which focuses on everything from Electro, to Dubstep, Bmore, Grime, UK Garage, Hip Hop, House, and more…It’s essentially a house party in a club; a nice friendly vibe. There’s also loads of cheap booze too, some come down and party with us!

If you want to check me out online, you can do so at the following:

Tracklisting:

01. MRK1 – Kill Zone

Thought I’d kick things off with something rowdy. I love how it starts off with a cheeky Twilight Zone sample, and then suddenly smacks you in the face with that first drop. Skank out!

02. Skream – Burning Up

Heavy Jungle vibes from Skream. Dude is on fire right now!

03. Sukh Knight – Beneath Your Blouse

One of my favourite tunes from the Cheeze Loueez EP. True Tiger always come correct.

04. Benny Page & Zero G – Trigger Finger

Such a huge bassline on this track. Time to bruk out.

05. Rossi B & Luca Feat. Gully Gang – Music Money

Switching things up with a bit of Grime. This one’s a nice little posse cut from Rossi B & Luca, who make some great beats. They’re also sick DJs too. Angry MCs and a warping bass is a winning combination..

06. Jakes & Joker – 3kLane

I never get bored of this record. Two Dubstep bangers fused together into one heavy hitter = WIN. Bristol stand up!

07. Tempa T – Boy Off Da Ting

Easily the most hype MC out there right now. ‘Next Hype’ was THE Grime anthem for this year, and Tempz has nicely followed it up with this monster of a tune. I can’t wait until his album drops. Big.

08. Benga & Coki – Night

Classic banger. Enough said.

09. LD – The King of Kong

I love the whole tribal sound on this record. The animal noises make it sound like you’re going on some mad Dubstep night safari…I threw this in the mix to ease it down a little before going back into some jump up tunes.

10. Noah D – Seeeriousss

I’m a massive fan of Noah D’s music. Not only does he make really good D&B, he also puts out some quality Dubstep records too. Pretty laid back, but also quite hype at the same time. Wicked tune.

11. Flux Pavilion – Fucking Noise

A great slice of rowdy jump-up Dubstep. This tune makes me want to jump around like a crazy person in my living room.

12. Excision – Swagga

To put it simply, this tune is super filthy! This has been killing it every time I’ve dropped it in the club. That bassline is too much…

13. Joker – Purple City

Joker is my favourite producer right now. I love his sound! It’s like Crunk-meets-Grime-meets-Dubstep-meets-G Funk. This is a serious head-nodder.

14. Grand Puba – Get It (12th Planet Remix)

One of my favourite tracks from the Dubstep LA mixtape. Fast-paced, and full of energy. I also threw in a simple juggle halfway through to make things interesting.

15. Simian Mobile Disco – Cruel Intentions (Joker Remix)

In one word…Amazing…2010 is the year of the Joker.

16. Caspa – Marmite (Cable VIP Re-edit)

A cheeky little re-edit/bootleg of Caspa’s track from yours truly. I re-sequenced the beat into a booty bass/2-step vibe. A nice tool to use to switch up into Grime, UK Garage, or another genre.

17. Dizzee Rascal – I Luv U

Thought I’d finish the mix with some classic Dizzee. This joint got into Grime music after hearing it on one of those UK Garage Tape packs back in the day…I love the rawness of this tune. Reminds me of the good old days back at University.

If you are in Malmö this Saturday. Be sure to join us at ,The Rumble for a night of Pom Pom magic!

Download Pom Pom – November Reign (zshare)

Bonus: Check out the video for Busy Signal – Picante (Stefski Remix) here.

01. Pom Pom – Intro

02. Little Lenny – No Sound Can’t Test We
Tells it like it is. Let’s go!

03. DJ Ganyani – Limpompo Funk
We wanted this mix to be housey with plenty of elements to keep you listening all day. Some of the best house stuff out seems to come from South Africa so we packed a couple of SA house gems in here, like DJ Ganyani and this big room track of his. Video’s super fresh too http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x87ycW7iJuQ

04. DJ Gakwa – Terminator Return
Another guy from South Africa, on the Afrotainment label (good label). Stripped down production, disoriented funky sounds. We need (more of) these songs.

05. DJ Gregory & Gregory Salto – Con Alegria (Solo ‘More Cowebell’ Remix)
Last summer’s anthem. This is the sort of record that had us thinking we should probably shave our backs, start spinning on CDJs and charge three times the money. Needless to say we’re still cheap and hairy…

06. Boris Dlugosh – Bangkok (Roska Remix)
…To hammer home that point here’s this dope Roska Remix out on Phantasy. We like the original but this is such a scorcher! The way it combines UK funky beats with the original’s ravier sounds, not for the weak at heart or hips.

07. Tzoz En Proffessor – Mantombanzane (Club Remix)
Back to South Africa. We’ve played this for over a year and it still sounds like the track of the week. Thought it fitted this mix so well we couldn’t do without it – love the female choirs here.

08. Kool DJ Dust – Human Beings
The original thriftmeister DJ Dust has been putting big spending record buyers to shame with his label-covered finds of Swedish Indie /Italo /Noise for as long as we can remember. Here’s our keeper from his Ancient Astronauts 12” on local label Feed. Pounding discoid electronics – the least common denominator of dudes everywhere.

09. Traxmen – It’s House (Paul Johnson Remix)
OK, we needed to put some House music on here as well, Dust’s track sort of called for it. Paul Johnson comes hard here with this track. It’s House, nuff said.

10. D.J. #1 – Test (Get Up)
This is actually a DJ Funk record, released on Dance Mania in -94, like a year before the previous track with, pretty much the same vibe. Just throwing another bone at you.

11. Criminal House – Rhythm Talk (Bad Boy Bill Mix)
Early Dance Mania now, out in -89 which you might have guessed from the synth stabs and the way you feel an urge to live in a field. Nice vocal sample to work up the vibe for what’s next.

12. Drop The Lime – Set Me Free (Lil Silva Remix)
New Trouble & Bass. Dudes are really back at it again with this release. The Little Jinder is out any day (peep the Bok Bok remix when it drops!). The combo of funky drums and classic vocal house sample on the Lil Silva remix just kills it here.

13. Hot City – Sweat
UK garage 2.0: the classic bassline sound, the vocal sample and the beat… familiar somehow but tweaked just the right way make it feel very up to the time. Guess we could say “Hot City is hottt!” when we fill in the feedback form.

14. Joy Orbison – BRKLN CLLN
Well, everyone should know about this guy by now as his release prior to this is one of the most hyped up in 2009. He stays in style on this track, super smooth!

15. KrY$tAL LeOnn’ – Son Dédicasses (Instrumental)
Coupé decalé evolved… Krystal LeOnn’ is a 19 year old multi-instrumentalist which we got hooked on surfing Skyrock. Part of the Towess collective, Krystal is a beat producer set for bigger things than the 400 plays we caught this at. This is the dancing styled “instru” version and it slays. Can’t wait to hear more from these guys.

16. DJ Zinc + Benga feat Sweetie Irie – Number 1 Girls
The Super Sharp Shooter man’s new “Crack House” EP is solid and this is the track with the most dancehall feel to it. Loving the bassline.

17. Artwork – Rank
To be honest, we weren’t really big dubstep fans back in 2002 when Big Apple started releasing their groundbreaking music but when you listen to it today you can tell they were doing stuff that would last. This is off the first release on the label and it’s just a huge tune!

18. Gucci Vump – Sha! Shtil! (L-Vis 1990 Remix VIP)
L-Vis 1990 ftw! His VIP remix is not on the original “Sha! Shtil!” EP but beats all the others on that. This is some super deep stuff, perhaps too dark for most dance floors but perfect for a mix. As usual L-Vis is one step ahead. So is Discobelle who just posted this. Rats!

19. Stefski – Shai Track VIP
A Stefski exclusive heard here for the first time outside of a club situation. Thought this was a good way of saying thanks and see you soon again!

Mix of the year? Let’s give it up for Kingdom!

Kingdom is a Brooklyn-based producer and DJ whose signature sets and productions have been gathering a following since he released his first mixtape in 2006.

“For this mix I wanted to showcase tracks that moved me physically and emotionally, and tracks that represent the new sound aesthetic of a small unit of future-minded DJs worldwide. Syncopated drums, heavy bass, and female vocals can be found throughout the mix, including several original tracks, remixes, and edits that were created while making the mix. This mix is also a prequel to my first official release which will be out via Fools Gold and Acephale next month.

Download: Kingdom – Mix for Discobelle, Oct 09 (zShare) (alt link)

1) Kingdom – Wine & Stomp (Intro)

Dark trancehall you can wine your waist and stomp your feet to.

2) Jam City – In the Park (Kingdom Refix ft. Allure)

Jam City is a new London-based producer who is making very open-minded club music. I added some bass drops and vocals from the acapella of R&B group Allure’s 1998 hit “Head Over Heels.”

3) Bok Bok – Ripe Banana

I was staying at Night Slugs HQ in south London when Bok Bok was finishing this track, and I would wake up to the subs pumping this track each morning. I think it’s imprinted in my subconscious because I am transported every time I hear it. 10 out of 10.

4) L-Vis 1990 – United Groove (Kingdom Remix)

This remix will be released on the United Groove remix EP, out next month on Mad Decent. Ethereal vocals and echo pianos drifting over broken drums and trance stabs.

5) Cooly G – Jus Wanna

Cooly G is the most intriguing producer to me at the moment. Her productions are simple, experimental, and entirely unique. On top of that, she does all the vocals on her tracks. So instead of found vocal samples, she is recording her own vocal samples, and the results are incredible.

6) KG – 808

Each time the beat progresses and a new part kicks in, it comes as a welcomed surprise, and when the strings finally break through, it feels like freedom.

7) Roska – Elevated Level (Kingdom Edit ft. Brandy)

It’s an old Roska track at this point, but I play this vocal edit out a lot. This is the track I play when it’s time to bring the energy level up. Even a tiny vocal sample from legendary vocalist Brandy manages to make this track into an anthem.

8) Marcus Price & Carli – Mat, Bira, Kvinnor, Weed (Kingdom Remix)

There are certain tracks that I am magnetized to and have no choice but to remix, even though they didn’t ask for one! This was one of those.

9) Dubbel Dutch – Throwback

Brand new track from Texas’s own Dubbel Dutch. The mixing and compression on this track are so nice. Chopped diva vocals and clean sub-bass. I love the drifting cool-down moment in this track too, and when the breakbeat kicks back in, you know you need to brace yourself for a huge drop.

10) Lil Silva – Different (Kingdom Remix ft. Jazmine Sullivan)

It seems like some of the best UK funky beats are just begging for vocal versions. Here we have a sample of the incomparable Jazmine Sullivan going off over a Lil Silva’s grimey funky banger.

11) DJ Makency – Ragga Jump

My Los Angeles family NGUZUNGUZU and DJ Total Freedom turned me on to tribal guarachero, which is a fusion of tribal house and cumbia, and it has become my favorite genre of late. Intensely syncopated hand percussion mixed with stomping kicks and serious sub-bass. Interestingly this track has a reggae vocal sample on it, adding to the mixup.

12) DJ Alan Rosales – Claps

Another banging tribal guarachero track, this one with an indescribably fluctuating arpeggiated synth lead.

13) KS-20 – Fun-key (Instrumental)

KS-20 is a Japanese baile funk producer (!?) who incorporates influences of classic house and dubstep to his tracks. This is an instrumental dubplate he made for me of one of the tracks I heard on his MySpace player. The kids go off vogueing to this one.

14) Lil Silva – Pulse vs. Flex

I got into this track hearing it played by Bok Bok and L-vis 1990 last year, and I am still obsessed. It combines the bass from Musical Mob’s grime classic “Pulse X” with Silva’s signature “acoustic” snares and hi-hats. That persistent hissing open hi-hat that never closes is so unique to this track.

15) Kingdom – Mindreader ft. Shyvonne (Bok Bok Remix)

I’m really looking forward my first release. We have remixes from Todd Edwards, L-Vis 1990, and this dark-drone-triplet-garage banger of a remix from Bok Bok.

16) Lenny Fonata – Spirit of the Sun (Bump & Flex Mix)

Give me classic 2-step with organ bass and diva vox and I’m all good.

17) DJ Corlando – Passa Passa (Kingdom Remix)

This is a kuduro remix I made for my set at Night Slugs last year. I finally finished it while making this mix. By the end of it, it’s a totally different track, with a pleading Keyshia Cole sample near the end.

18) Kingdom – YOU

This is the B-side to my upcoming Fools Gold / Acephale release. Bubbling-trance with an SWV sample on helium.

19) Terror Danjah – With U ft. Shola Ama

Rhythm & grime was my favorite sub-genre. The soulful side of grime that never got enough shine. I’m still upset it didn’t yield big chart hits. Davinche and Terror Danjah were working with Sadie and Shola Ama, and the results were mind-bogglingly beautiful. This skittery track from 2004 reminds me of the innovation and elegance of Timbaland’s early work with Aaliyah. Terror and the sisters Ama are apparently linking up again, so I’m hopeful.

20) Young Dot – DPM Remix / Threat Misses – Juke Ya Girl (Kingdom Remix)

A shorter version of this blend was on my first mixtape in 2006. I recently revisited it and expanded it, adding melodies and drums.

21) The Dream – Fancy

The Dream and Tricky Stewart are the most important R&B production team in America right now. The way the track slowly builds and the details in the arrangement are truly amazing. Listen to this track on your mobile phone on top of a mountain in the desert for best results.”

Royal-T – Beat Fighter (Bok Bok Remix) / Unreleased, forthcoming No Hats No Hoods

‘Grime in disguise’.

Brackles & Shortstuff – Saturito Faita / Planet Mu

Easily one of my favourite tracks of the year. Ultimate number 1 as far as the drums are concerned.

Joy Orbison – Wet Look / Hotflush

Sounds like:

TRG – Siberian Poker / Unreleased

Heard it first in the Untold’s fact mix and it stood out so much. That lead line is so vicious! One of these rare tracks that are avantgarde in a way but with high dancefloor potential too.

Gemmy – Rainbow Rd / Planet Mu

Simply THIS:

+ THIS:

Supra1 – Kowloon / Unreleased, forthcoming Trouble & Bass

Kowloon was a tiny Chinese enclave that was located in the middle of British Hong Kong for decades. Originally a military fort, it became a very dense urban settlement, until it was torn down in 1993. The city was notorious for its excess of brothels, casinos, opium dens, cocaine parlours, food courts serving dog meat, and secret factories. Personally, one of our favourite spots in Hong Kong.

Rustie – Bad Science / Wireblock

Rusto brings the FILTH.

Mark Pritchard & Om’mas Keith – Wind It Up / Hyperdub

Ridiculous tune. First time I heard it was on a beach, chatting with a beautiful girl, sipping on drinks, watching the sunset. Our clothes were all wet, it was freezing.

Terror Danjah – Zumpi Hunter (Swindle Remix) / Planet Mu

You can’t mess with Terror Danjah and those synthlines either.

Supra1 – I Still Believe / Unreleased, forthcoming Trouble & Bass

Soulful is the word. We love chicago house influenced diva type of vocals and melodies and so decided to do a track that takes that and mixes it with T&B’s hit’em, smash’em tear’em crash’em attitude.

Drop The Lime – Devils Eyes (Supra1 Remix) / Unreleased, forthcoming Trouble & Bass

When we got the parts to do the Devils Eyes remix and heard the vocal track it was shivers down the spine. It was clear we needed to do a tune that would create space for the vocals and put it in the limelight.

SMD – Cruel Intentions (Joker Remix) / Wichita

Bristol —> Stuck In The System —> Cruel Intentions Remix

No one wears a mullet like Cobra Krames and few can get their mix on like he does.

“It was the beginning of what would become an epic summer, and I was restless from the heat. Unanswered questions arise to any man seeking meaning in what has become many moons of partying. I decided to go on a vision quest to seek inspiration; for the future of the dancefloor depended on it! I spent my summer on the isles of the great Shamans, smoking ceremonial pipes, eating mushrooms & chanting till the wee hours of the morning. At times it was if the sun never set and I found myself in enormous drum circles with the high chiefs of many forgotten tribes. In sweat tents we sipped tea and meditated over the powerful trance-inducing drumming of the Shaman. At the summer’s end I returned to Bushwick Brooklyn a changed man. The sounds I’d heard on those beaches and mountains had inspired me to re-create those feelings on the dancefloor.

Download: Cobra Krames – Mixin It Up for Discobelle (zShare)

“New Mission” – Cobra Krames & “Make Em Shake It” (acapella) – Wahoo
I wanted to start the mix with a big rave anthematic intro so make that happen , then I sampled Tangerine Dream’s “Kiew Mission” to make the melody for the riddim, it really sounds a lot like Michael Jackson’s “Beat It” I think.

“Club Love” Dub – Cobra Krames
This is a riddim I made for The Cataracs from the bay area for a remix of there “Club Love” single. I like the dub version so I used that w/ the Wahoo acapella as well for that mega mix feeling!

“Allah Ma Diana” – Le Zagazougou & “Party Hard” – Donaeo
I like the drum riddim in “Allah Ma Diana” and Donaeo has a great voice, really cool in that context. I thought it would be a good seg-way into the rest of the mixtape.

“Afreaka” – Solo & “Brooklyn Anthem” (acapella) – 77 Klash
I got this acapella from Klash and I really wanted to rep Brooklyn right in the mix, I live here so its important to rep that in the music and we’re creating some dope new styles here and Klash really is pushing new music and the direction of the party. “Afreaka” has a dope tribal feel to it that I am really driving through the mix.

“E Samba” (Cobra Krames Remix) – Junior Jack
E Samba is a dope Latin House tune that I really wanted to put a twist on, so I worked with the acapella and turned it into a Puerto Bass Banger, I think the industrial power saw bassline combined w/the ringtone and techno synths makes for a dope combination.

“The Leak” – N.B. Funky
Dude is pushing the UK Funky scene for sure and he’s got a buncha tunes, it was really hard to choose which one to pick for the mixtape, but I think “The Leak” really fits in with my production sound for the mixtape and works to bridge my original tunes together.

“Bajo del Bongo” Dub – Cobra Krames & “Mas Que Nada” (acapella) – Sergio Mendes
One of two beats I made recently with a Baile Funk and Tribal House vibe in mind, so you catch elements of both of those styles, with the tambors and fills, but you get a 4 on beat as well with some heavy bass. The “Mas Que Nada” vocal I thought was simply a good fit and also seg-ways really nice into the next section of the mixtape.

“Wonton Garden Riddim” – Spoek & “Nice Green” (acapella) – Jahdan Blakkamoore & “Delirio del Sotano” Dub – Cobra Krames
This Riddim is currently one of my favorites, I’ve heard it used a few different ways and it just seems to work no matter how you flip it, Spoek killed it with this one. The “Nice Green” acapella is dope and Jahdan be killin’ it right now , dude is about to blow up on some major shit , he has to!! “Delirio del Sotano” is the other Tribal Funk Riddim that I recently made, taking from some influence of Masters At Work on the snares and really driving in the whistle, thats my shizz, the whistle!!!

“Hey Rumba” – Bangana & “Makonde” – Uncle Bakongo
I really like the breakdown in “Hey Rumba”, it really symbolizes the style of the movement in the music and what puts this apart from other things you hear, the chanting and melodic percussive instrumentation and then putting that w/ the Riddim of “Makonde” which is very organic.

“My Penis” (Cobra Krames Remix) – Larry Tee & Perez Hilton
This is one of those tracks that people tend to get a kick out of, the original is on Larry Tee’s summer release of “My Penis” and “My Pussy” b-side, I have got a lot of comments on how this is simply a fun tune! Produced in a similar vain to the other original tracks featured on the mix.

“Inflation” – Crazy Cousinz & “Do Dis Thang” (acapella) – Cobra Krames ft. 215TFK
Crazy Cousinz doing some big things in the UK Funky scene and I wanted to flip one of there tunes on the mixtape, so I did that with an acapella from an upcoming single I have coming out w/ 215 The Freshest Kids, we recorded these hooks at the crib while Buddy Lezzle was in town and Cerebral Vortex lives in NYC now so thats a good look.

“Calinda” (Cobra Krames Remix) – Ritmo-Dynamic
This is one of those tunes that really reps the style on the mixtape. Like the other ones, its got some rave synths and heavy bass with a tribal riddim. I really like the track “Calinda” so I thought it would be dope to put a bass feeling to it and get it poppin’.

“Uptown Pon De Floorever” – Cobra Krames
I was on a journey and I thought to myself, what is a reggaeton melody that everyone knows that I could flip w/ my style. At that same moment I realized how similar the words Baltimore and Pon De Floor sound if you say them fast together ya know. I decided to make it epic w/ some big reverb and a simple bassline to drive the horns from “Deja Vu (Uptown Baby)” and do something tonal w/ the pon de floor phrase making it go up and down.

Time for this weeks edition of Mixin’ It Up. This time we go to Toronto, Canada to hang out with Brandon Sek from Curbcrawlers. But apart from running one of the best blogs around he is also a great DJ. Take it away Brandon:

1. Tom Flynn – San Fran Shuffle

Some brand new unsigned music from Tom Flynn. I love the way it slowly builds up with horn stabs, tense strings and eardrum rattling 808’s. It sets the tone for the rest of the mixtape perfectly.

2. Kenton Slash Demon – Singla

Tartelet’s 007 release has been without a doubt one of my favorite EP’s of he year. The KSD guys really break the mold here with some chunky subs and off-time percussion that result in some serious head nod sh*t. Only recently did i discover that KSD are both members of When Saints Go Machine whom have been on regular CCHQ rotation for years.

3. Renaissance Man – Aloha (Dub Mix)

Chest crushing bass weight from team Renaissance Man on one of 2009 most forward thinking labels Sound Peligrino. Similar to KSD’s Singla, the Dub Mix of Aloha experiments with some really dope rhythmic patterns that keep things particularly interesting

4. John Tejada – Torque

Some “classic” Tejada thrown in here. I’ve been a big fan of his music ever since he released a dnb single on Klute’s Commercial Suicide label some years ago. I quite enjoy the sinister “mars attacks” feeling in this one. Dark without being overly noisy.

5. Claude Vonstroke & Bootsy Collins – The Greasy Beat (Funk Bomb Mix)

Love this one to bits. Forthcoming on Dirtybird CVS teams up with Funk legend Boosty Collins for some low riding booty slap business.

6. LOTP – Bathroom Gurgle (Duke Dumont Remix)

I don’t think this tune’s left my favorites list since it dropped late last year. Big boy 808’s reminiscent of Aux88 on a Detroit Electro Techno tip from Dumont that’s stood the test of time.

7. Carola Pisaturo – Et Voila (Cinelli 2009 Remix)

Picked this one up while checking out Barem’s beatport top ten chart. I absolutely love Barem’s deep house and although this remix wasn’t done by him, I think it does a bang up job and highlighting a trend in techhouse/deephouse pushing ultra low dnb-like rolling subs under the kick. Rib shattering basslines here.

8. Audion – Jukebox Hero

Brand new Audion on Spectral here. Audion’s most recent works show him carving out a really unique sound that I’m all over right now. Like Stimming, this sloppy broken funk laden house suits Audion and I hope he keeps running with it.

9. Dubbel Dutch – Trollsta (Round Table Knights Remix)

Forthcoming on Palms Out Sounds Records, My good friend and guest Curb Crawlers blogger Dubbel Dutch gets the remix treatment from Round Table Knights.

10. Kenton Slash Demon – Khattabi

Tartelet 007 here again. Without a doubt this is 2009’s 12″ of the year.

11. Poligono – Let Me Down Easy

Fresh out Mexico. Poligono’s been getting a good number of people talking lately and we’ve only heard the tip of the iceberg from him so far. Love the old Soul edits in this one. Currently unreleased, forthcoming on a fine label shortly no doubt.

12. J Phlip – Rumble Rumble

A Dirtybird favorite from 2008. Still does damage on in the dance like clockwork.

13. Matthew Dear & Seth Troxler – Hurt

Decided to ride Seth’s vocals of this mix for a short bit to spice it up.

14. Brooks – IWANCHU

Taken from the AUS music All Night Long LP which is an absolutely banging Album! Crossing the best in Dubstep, Funky and Deep House it’s defiantly something to pick up if you haven’t already.

My favorite “Next Hype” remix!

DR WOOGIE Feat. MC CHICKABOO & MAMA – Dutty Charge (Hannah Holland Remix)

Hannah Holland and Batty Bass records are really in my favs! BATTY BASS!

MENEO – I Know Bass (Tomb Crew’s Remix Feat. Voltair Clekclekboom)

One more banger from my friends of Tomb Crew! I play it in every set!

BURAKA SOM SISTEMA – IC19 (NguzuNguzu Remix)

This track was given away on Mad Decent Blog, it was one of the remixes that didn’t been on the official release, for me it’s the best one!

MASTIKSOUL – Run For Cover

I discovered this tune on the excellent Dakunt & Stinj kuduro mixtape! And my son really loves this tune!
Buy it, use it, break it, fix it, Trash it, change it, mail – upgrade it, Charge it, point it, zoom it, press it, Snap it, work it, quick – erase it, …

HOT CITY – Sweat

Every tune of Hot City are so massive: i love this 2-step, house, ravey style

BOK BOK – OMG (Venom & Damage Remix)

Each time Venom & Damage send me a new tune, i’m like: “woah! that’s bangin’, i need to do a new mix to drop it!”

L-VIS 1990 – Run

I love this tune since the first time i heard it on Night Slugs Sub Fm Radio Show! L-Vis is big in the game!

LIL SILVA Feat. Ms Brat – Who Do You Think You Are

Lil Silva is one the first producer who make me turn into uk funky with his Funky Flex Ep

GERO – Savate (Kazey & Bulldog Remix)

Kazey & Bulldog are the french bmore top producers duo! This remix is so massive that sometimes i play it twice a gig!

DEBRUIT – So Bayle

Big Débruit production: bangin’ electro – acid – baile – coupé decalé tune!

DAKUNT – Raggasex

I discovered Dakunt trough his kuduro mixtape and his amazing edit of Amadou Et Mariam tune “Sabale”, this track is a perfect tune for the summer, watch out for his other productions!

STICKY – Jumeirah Riddim

I like the funky grime energy of this track

BOY BETTER KNOW – Too Many Man (DJ Zinc Remix)

The mighty DJ Zinc remix the BBK tune into a 4×4 grime dancefloor killer

D51 & LE FONZ – WYFW (Nader Remix)

Nader is one of the member of the Chicago Dead Beats, this young crew is already making big things in Chi’town! watch out for these guys!

CHATEAU LATEUF – Mutha Soca

One of the early production of my crew Chateau Lateuf!

JAHDAN BLAKKAMOORE Feat. 77 KLASH & SPOEK – Dem Nuh Like It (Shadetek Production)

I’m a Team Shadetek fan since a long time with their ep on Shockout, Sound Ink or Shadetel Records

MS DYNAMITE – Bad Gyal

I was waiting for this tune for so long time! i even played the radio one rip! haha! shame on me but this tune is so good!

Artwork by Leo Olofsson of Awesome Agency

It’s been a long hot summer but our Mixin’ It Up series is finally back, and with fellow Awesome Agency artist the amazing DJ Wool providing the mix for the return we couldn’t be off to a better start. You all should know DJ Wool by now but to refresh your memories we’ve included a brief bio to go along with the mix, here we go:

“Glen Brady aka DJ Wool is a DJ and Music Producer who splits his time between Brooklyn and Berlin. Glen is a founding member of indie dance duo The Glass with Dominique Keegan of Plant records co-owned by hip hop pioneer Stretch Armstrong. The Glass new single ‘Wanna Be Dancin’ featuring remixes by Nadastrom, Eli Escobar, In Flagranti and more is available now on Plant Music and has been receiving play by Pete Tong and Rob Da Bank on BBC 1.

Recent remixes by DJ Wool include: Izza Kizza (Mosley Music Group), In Flagranti, Camp Lo feat Grand Agent, Mic Terror, iPunk, Niyi, Tittsworth feat Kid Sister, Pase Rock, Cobra Krames, Niyi, Das Shadow, Loose Shus, Omar Doom, DCUP and more.

The Glass have released numerous 12” records, EP’s and remixes including two 12 inches “Won’t Bother Me” and “Hear The Music” with remixes by Mylo and 2020 Soundsystem on Fine/Four music. They have remixed and been remixed by Luke Solomon, Nadastrom, Eli Escobar, Sub Swara, Ursula 1000. 120 Days (Vice Records), INXS, Kasper Bjorke, Stretch Armstrong, Rinocerose, The Photo Atlas, Telepopmusic, Tittsworth, Les Clones, Filur, Shitake Monkey, Just Jack, Junior Sanchez and more.

Glen also mixed/engineered the 2008 debut album by Baltimore Beats artist Tittsworth ‘12 Steps’ featuring appearances by Nina Sky, Pitbull, The Federation, Dave Nada, Kid Sister and Pase Rock….DJ Wool also produced the forthcoming single ‘I Party’ by wildly successful Californian Hip hop act ‘The Far East Movement’

Current DJ Wool solo joints include ‘The Star of East Berlin’ with remixes by Sharkslayer, Rampa (Terranova) and Mike Dextro on Plant Music NYC. Plus DJ Wool ‘Gangsters & Models’ with remixes by Cobra Krames and The Scandals on Pale music International. Forthcoming releases include The Glass ‘SuperHero’ with remixes by Luke Solomon, Tittsworth and Ursula 1000 on Plant Music and DJ Wool feat Subtitle ‘Strobelight’ with remixes by Arveene & Misk and Royal Rumble. DJ Wool is also collaborating on a new single with South African Wunderkinds Sweat.X. DJ Wool mixed and engineered highly succesful ‘Sound of Young New York’ Compilations 1,2 & 3.

DJ Wool is now an artist on the roster of UberCool Berlin based booking agent Awesome Agency along with Discobelle DJ’s, Niyi, Cobra Krames and more…

DJ Wool is on a constant tour schedule with The Glass and as a DJ that takes him from San Francisco to Switzerland and back again on a monthly basis…

For this mix I wanted to get as close as possible to the sound I’ve been playing at the ‘Awesome’ parties in Berlin and around Europe for the past year. New School Dancefloor shit, equal parts influenced by Techno, Breaks, Electro and House with a few cool exclusives representing where me and the homies are at in the studio, on the mic and on those turntables. I tried to stay away from my usual dj mix style so no elaborate intros or noodly numbers just to please the crate diggers…This time I’m dropping it for the dancefloor and keepin it there all the way to the end…..Awesome stylee!!! I’ve kept it mellow on the cutting and scratching on this one but obviously I couldn’t do nearly 70 minutes of mixing without a little nod to turntablism, no Tractor mixing here…..Also I’ve got 5 tracks on here that have some kind of origin in Ireland. Nice to see some Paddiness finally getting represented!!!

Download: DJ Wool – Discobelle Mixin’ It Up (zShare)

DJ Wool – Strobelight feat Subtitle (Arveene & Misk Mix)

This is my new single coming out in the Autumn featuring the rhyme skills of Giovanni Marks aka Subtitle. Subtitle tames his ‘tech’ rap and gives a straight up party killer. Whattup Gino? Arveene & Misk on remix duties. Those kids always go BANG! Oh yea this is exclusive! That’s why it’s 1st…cuts not included.

Meat Katie & Dylan Rhymes – Longacre

Meat Katie has been around making breakbeats longer than you have and never disappoints. I like the techno influence on this one…fits lovely in my set.

Black Rabbit – What’s up Earthlets

I like this in the mix…it takes you to bassline country without scaring away the crowd.

8 Minutes – Come Go

A few weeks ago I went to Dublin, Ireland (where I grew up). I deejayed, got drunk and went to a party (I know, very unusual for me)…At said party I met a young producer named Niall Dunne and we chilled for a minute. This track is by Niall and Andrew Houlihan. They go by the name ‘8 Minutes’ and this is a stomper. Oh yea this is exclusive!

The Count & Sinden – Mega (Club)

A mega track with a mega kick & snare pattern…and a mega breakdown. That’s it.

Orbital – Lush (Herve’s Tree & Leaf Remix)

So many people loved Orbital so much that Herve had to come along and Kick the shit out of it…Bassline stylee….

Zombie Nation – Worth it (Arveene & Misk Mix)

This is my pick of the bunch. Straight up and down stomper dancefloor killer.

DJ Wool – Strobelight feat Subtitle (Acapella)

I just had to give a full verse from Subtitle….That Fool is Hella Nice!!!

Tiga – Mind Dimension (Pablo Decoder Mix)

Pablo Decoder has been one of my favorite remixers in the past year….Big Techno influences with a hint of breakbeat malarchy vibes thrown in for good measure….Check his track ‘Blo’ if you dig this….

Jerry Ropero – Organ of Love (Juan Magan Mix)

A long time ago I was 17 and took ecstasy. These house organs bring me right back. Can You feel it?

Presuming Ed – Hit Me

Straight up and down dancefloor rockers Presuming Ed. They don’t let a dj down.

DJ Gero – SAVATE (Kazey N Bulldog Mix)

Anyone for a little ‘Post Baltimore’?

Detboi – Y’all Want Mo? (Sinden Mix)

Detboi is from Dublin like me…or so I hear…I like his tunes. Sinden kills it…is that a Run DMC break in the middle section?

Tommie Sunshine – Tokyo Pollution (Il Diablo’s Bassline Mix)

I used to see Tommie at the post office in Williamsburg, Brooklyn and we never spoke, then one day he walked up to me in Berlin and said ‘Hi Glen’. Here Tommie gets a taste of the real bassline pressure, pressure, pressure, pressure, pressure! Nice String work from Tommie on the original too.

Presuming Ed – Begging Your Pardon

Straight up and down dancefloor rockers Presuming Ed. They don’t let a dj down….Shit Deja Vu!

Felix The House Cat – Elvis

A legendary track from a legendary cat with the name of a legendary geezer.

The Glass – SuperHero (Bit Theif Mix)

This is going to be the next single from my band The Glass…..Bit Theif takes us to the nearest dancefloor but leaves in that Gay Dad vocal for the ladies…Go Domo!!! Catch us on tour USA/Canada in September and Europe in October….Oh yea this is exclusive…for now.

The Beatles – Revolution (The Yank’s Cut) DJ Wool edit)

So I listened to The Psychonauts and DJ Z Trip and the like alot in the 90’s so I can’t just do a straight up Dancefloor mix without playing something that would go down equally well at a wedding as at a rave…This record is so fun to play at a ’serious’ club. Seems to really piss off the boring ass chin wagging ‘muso’ types…I did a few edits to it before I mixed it….This edit has been destroying dancefloors for me from Malmo to Mexico!!!!!

Martelo feat Herve – Wasted

Straight Hella Tight Hammer Banger Bloodlust Dancefloor Mayhem just to let you know there’s no fooling around when you book a DJ that represents Awesome Agency, Plant Music, The Glass, Berlin, Dublin, NYC!!!!!!!!!”

PS: Local peeps, check out DJ Wool next saturday (August 29th) in Malmö where he’ll destroy The Rumble together with Rusko, L-Vis 1990 and Arveene.
