More music to fill your monday with! Two of the freshest dudes out of Sweden got together and made a mixtape. Who they are is a mystery for me 2 know and for you 2 find out. Hopefully we get to see more stuff from this dynamic duo in the near future!
Cousin Cole brings us the bump with his new mixtape “Major Rager” that features all Baltimore/Philly/Jersey club music but also new tunes from Cousin Cole plus a track from DJ Get Em, who’s an amazing new producer coming out with a record on Flagrant Fowl this summer.
“I was inspired to make this by my SXSW showcase this Saturday (Baltimore Love Thing, RSVP here) where I get to play with DJ Class, Chavy Boys, Blaqstarr, Nadastrom and Emynd & Bo Bliz. If you’re in Austin you BETTER be at this!!”
Talented NYC rapper Theophilus London is rather hyped at the moment, he was recently picked up by Neon Gold Records (run by fellow Grinder Derek) and will most likely blow up in 2009. His new mixtape “This Charming Mixtape” puts us in Theophilus Londons world and it can be be desribed as – yeah that’s right – a charming mixtape which sees him take on a fun and versatile approach to all the different styles of music that he loves. Perhaps it’s best desribed as electro/hip hop but with a twist.
A banging leak off the upcoming mixtape “So Far Gone” from Canadian rapper Drake, the mixtape looks very promising. This track was produced by Diplo and features both Santogold and Lil Wayne. (Via October’s Very Own)
Maggie Horn just released her EP with Curses! on Institubes the other day and now she and Scottie B joins forces and deliver a banging mixtape! Tonight they hold a release party for the mixtape and Maggie is performing live with her eclectic music family. Tell them that you’re coming, RSVP here!
“What do you get if you put one producer and one vocalist (both with evil-scientist ambitions) in a studio for one day – and let them chop up and mix Aphex Twin with Justice, Throbbing Gristle with Karlheinz Stockhausen, Raymond Scott with Marcel Duchamp, Fela Kuti with Benga and Crookers with Iggy and The Stooges, Zapp and Roger Troutman (and tons of other sounds)?”
You get Super Viral Brothers which is in fact Olle from Dada Life fame and Anthony Mills. Their first mixtape “Flu Shot” is out now and an album will drop later in the spring. Check it out!
“Finally here is the high quality official version of long awaited mixtape “Sky High” from Benzi & Plain Pat! This new version is not like the crappy webrip that was floating around, and is properly mixed and mastered and features a new verse Kid Cudi + a few other remixes and bonuses. Enjoy this project in all its glory and look out for more remix projects and Benzi’s debut album “Get Right” in the future!”
This video from The Very Best boys is just what we needed to as a pick me up after the party we played last night together with Jamtech Foundation (they seriously slaughtered it, they’ll be doing it big in 2009).
“Esau Mwamwaya went back to Lelongwe, Malawi in October 2008 for the first time in 9 years. I came with him to play at the Lake Of Stars festival and to shoot this video and film his homecoming in general. We had a crazy respons from local press, radio and tv. we rehearsed at Lucius Banda’s famous ‘Summit’ venue for 3 days with local dancers. We went to see the live venue where Esau’s music career started ‘Village Lodge’, and we hung out with Esau’s family and their neighbours outside of Lelongwe. Most of the kids dancing in the video is Esau’s brothers and all their neighbours kids. They all new all the words by the time we got there, very cute! We played Lake Of Stars festival, which argubly might be the best festival in the world. Ive been meaning to edit all the material since then but havnt had time. Now ive finally manged to sit down and do it and hopefully you’ll like it and get a little bit of insight into what Esau Mwamwaya is up to in Malawi at the moment.”
Oh yeah, grab that excellent The Very Best mixtape over here.
