Beni (ft. Via Tania) – Zig Zags

Australian producer Beni just released his debut album “House Of Beni” from which we lifted the track “Zig Zags” that features the delicate vocals of Via Tania. This is not the club banger that you would expect from Beni but instead it’s a breeze of light with a soft piano lingering underneath.

Modcast #99: Jacques Renault

Jacques Renault? is the post-punk who moved to Chicago and then on to NYC. Somewhere along the line he became a bonafide house/disco dj/producer afficionado (with releases on labels such as DFA, Italians Do It Better, RVNG INTL). He’s been touring the world ever since and putting smiles on the faces of dancefloors + of course making them sweat. This one-hour long mix is the most recent episode of the Modcast series and here we get Jacques dropping tracks that will make you wanna take your clothes off.

Sneaky Sound System – Big (Nicolas Jaar’s Always By Your Side Version)

Sydney duo Sneaky Sound System just dropped their third album – “From Here To Anywhere” – on Modular Recordings. The single “Big” recieves a reworking from one of our favorite producers, Nicolas Jaar, who transforms it into a dubbed out, atmospheric track where a lone guitar along with a cut up vocal sets the tone. The single also features remixes by John Dahlback, Oliver and Goodwill & Black Angus.

Beni – Someone Just Like You (Style Of Eye remix)

Australia’a very own purveyor of all-things-house – Beni – unleashed his debut album “House Of Beni” on Modular Records October 11th. Second single “Someone Just Like You” features vocal offerings from Mattie Safer (who used to be in The Rapture). We have a Discobelle exclusive in the form of this dark remix from acclaimed Swedish producer Style Of Eye that tweaks the original into sounding more like something you’d listen while racing down the highway in a manic state, we’re talking a sinister big room remix that in its path will only leave pulverized dancefloors.

Modcast #71: Eli Escobar

NYC based multitalented dj, producer and blogger Eli Escobar takes over the Modular Records podcast AKA Modcast to bring the party out of the club and straight to your portable listening device. This sounds like having a mainline of fun jacked right into your speakers. As always, Eli gives us flawless mixing moves and at the same time he takes us on a complete journey across the dancefloor.

Cut Copy – Need You Now

Australian trio Cut Copy just released their third album, the mesmerizing electropop effort “Zonoscope”, on Modular Records. Here’s the video for the single “Need You Now” and the band also did a mixtape entitled “A Tale Of Two Journeys”. Catch Cut Copy pretty much all over the world during the rest of the year.

The mixtape is described as being: “A medley of hits performed live at the Island Diamond Dance Hall in ’87 by Bobby Boomerang and his band.”
