Truancy Compilation One

OMG Truants, you just took things up a notch. Today is a day for the kind of confetti throwing, party hat wearing, setting off fireworks kind of celebration that only the release of a new, free compilation of amazing music by the hardworking folks at Truants Blog can bring about.

Truancy Compilation One is comprised of fourteen tracks from artists who influential artists spanning every genre imaginable, with sounds oscillating between summertime snyth party and acid tinged mini-house. Featuring mind altering tunes from NGUZUNGUZU, Teeth, Femme En Fourrure, Grown Folk, LOL Boys, Teki Latex, Mele, Brenmar, Glass Actor, Square Mode and many more, it’s the most abundant gift that the internet has revealed to us in quite a while.

Whether the bleepy chanting “jewelery, chrome and stones” chorus of Grown Folk’s “Steady Moving” is your thing, or the tweaked tribute to micro scenes that Teki Latex choruses over tambourines and summery handclaps, there’s something in this package for everybody. NGUZUNGUZU also weaves an effortlessly trippy jam that’s sure to be stuck on repeat, while Teeth packs a ton of bongos and grime into just five minutes.

While this compilation is free, Truants also mention that if you’d like to make a donation, all proceeds will be forwarded to the Libya & Region Appeal and will be transferred on April 30th and May 31th.

Tracklist for the gigantic compilation after the jump. Long live Truancy!

Jim-E Stack Fader Mix

New Orleans native Jim-E Stack is young, talented, and always strapped. Okay, the last one is just a guess, but this recently compiled Fader Mix carries so much metaphorical firepower that it might as well be true. This mix has new tracks by LOL Boys, NGUZUNGUZU, Dubbel Dutch, and a surprisingly good unknown edit of a Wacka Flocka track, early limewire internet style. It’s a happy surprise that in 2011 there can still be such thing as an “unknown edit”.

Jim E Stack

Silverback Recordings are on the verge of releasing the Nguzunguzu “Mirage” remix EP (drops in mid-January), as a bonus remix we get this stellar sounding remix of the track “Mirage” from quirky San Francisco born, New Orleans living, DJ/producer Jim-E Stack. He draws influences anywhere from UK funky to Mexico’s 3ball, and house to pop, he strives to create his own eclectic brand of club music which shows in this remix.

Voltron – Truancy Mixtape

The good people over at the always on point Truants blog brought in some of the Discobelle Records family – in the form of Belgian trio Voltron (EP dropping late January) – for the nineteenth edition of their mixtape series. Voltron hail from Belgium and together with Ultravid the guys run the emerging label Silverback Recordings (recent releases coming from L.A duo Nguzunguzu and London producer Jack Dixon with a Nguzunguzu remix EP to drop in January).

Get ready for a vibing mix of some of that UK dance music meeting the cream of the crop from Europe and the US which paired up with their own Voltron aesthetic will give you a sound of the future.

“For this mixtape we selected a few older tunes we really like and wanted to share, next to some newer gems and a couple of exclusives from amazing artists we support like Nguzunguzu, Canblaster, Sam Tiba, Bad Autopsy, Manaré. I think you can listen to it just after waking up, but as well before a night out. I can’t give you an ideal timing actually, because those are most of the tunes we’ve been listening to all day lately anyways :)”.
