Berlin based imprint, Odd Socks says it all in the name: it’s something a bit strange and wonky, yet essential… just like your little feetsie covers. Stepping out for the first time this year, the label put together this dandy four-tracker showcasing a tight collection of remixes from the likes of Max Graef, IMYRMIND, James Creed and Josh T.

Up first, Max Graef takes on “KDIM” by Glenn Astro & IMYRMIND and channels some grainy, lo-fi boogie stylings, like if Dam Funk made house music.IMYRMIND’s remix of “Matte” from Saine is a stuttering exercise in filter cut-offs and sparkling arpeggios. The James Creed remix of “Fleabag” from Josh T. & Arkist is my pick of the bunch with its swagger-laden bassline and confident swing. Josh T. turns in a version of Josh Creed’s “Undone” to round out the package.

Forthcoming this month!

Odd 5 A 3

Discobelle premiere!

Odd Socks is our favorite new label to emerge out of the ever growing Berlin scene, the label dropped their fifth release this monday and it comes from Helsinki based producer Saine.

The stunning effort that is the “Halftone EP” sees Saine travelling from “Traces” – a lush piano laced slow motion synth track – to the pulsating and bouncing track “Matte”.

BONUS: The Saine contribution to the ODDCast mix series.

The third release from freshly started Berlin based label Odd Socks comes courtesy of Berlin based producer/dj James Creed. “Top Pocket EP” is born from a deep appreciation of lazy grooves, crispy sounding percussion and tumbling synth tones with the occasional handclap and soft sung vocals along with piano tones, the EP has already seen support from the likes of Axel Boman, Homework, Round Table Knights etc. and it will first be released as limited 10″ vinyl with a digital version to be released later in this month.

In support of the new release, and in anticipation of their upcoming shows at Hive, Zurich on December 27th and Panorama Bar, Berlin on January 18th, label owners Creed & Stone have supplied magnificent third installment of the Oddcast series.

Odd Socks

Odd Socks is a newly started label that brings together nuances of the eclectic tastes of its founders, the imprint has no predetermined borders or boundaries besides their aim to release great and interesting music. The first release “The Fresno EP” is out today and comes from Josh T, who runs the highly praised Louche club night in Leeds, UK. Josh’s love for sleazy hip hop and r’n’b shines through on “The Fresno EP”, with two perfectly executed downtempo treats. This is vinyl only for now with a digital version coming soon.

Josh also contributed the first episode in the Odd Socks Oddcast series which you can check out here:

Odd Socks will be giving away 2 copies of the vinyl in celebration of this release. To enter the draw, simply like the Odd Socks Facebook fanpage HERE and like their most recent comment regarding this competition. Winners will be selected randomly and contacted via Facebook at the end of the week.
