Worthy – Lost Dog (LOL Boys Remix)

Worthy’s new release on Discobelle Records is a skeletal house beat with some big hollow, rapid wartime drums on the original which blossoms into a piece of tech house trance warfare – we’ve also got a 7th level of hell reworking from Pelican Fly alumni Lucid, and LOL Boys working some percussive somersaults with the original, building it up into one of their most infectious ballooning basslines to date.

Toronto producer Meati will be busy in the upcoming months, he has an EP coming out soon on Get Flavor that will feature remixes from Ardalan, Bosstone, John Roman, and Krueger. Also in the works there’s a collaboration with Deebs and a forthcoming remix on Pelican Fly. But before this mass of tracks gets released, we here at Discobelle can present you with “Carmen” which is a dark and brooding track with a subbass that’ll rattle your ribcage and as an added bonus we get a lingering, intimidating Weezy sample to tie the whole thing into one formidable affair.

Sho Stoppa – Flaunt It (LOL Boys Remix)

The next installation in the ever-continuing Pelican Fly saga of quality dance music arrives in the form of October 10th’s “On The Track EP (FLY004)” from Richelle, which includes original tracks “I Think”, “Don’t Do” and “Somewhere Secret” and features remixes by Marcus Price, Max Le Daron & Javier Estrada and Canblaster. Tough to choose a favorite, but the contribution from Newark based Jersey house legend-in-the-making DJ Sliink is something truly breathtaking.

And to celebrate, here’s another free piece of Pelican Fly swag:

Another week, another free secret weapon from the family! LOL Boys, aka your favourite “internet loving duo”, are bringing some serious heat this week with their rework of Sho Stoppa’s club banger “Flaunt It” ! We are very proud to offer you this one as a part of the free track series as it totally embodies our vision of club music and proceeds to blur the musical boundaries even more. DJ Slow – Pelican Fly Mix 001

Pelican Fly is the brainchild of Bruxelled based Thomas Duval AKA DJ Slow and his cohort producer Richelle, the label has with just a couple of releases under its belt become one of the forerunners when it comes to tracks that are destined to be dancefloor monsters. Here’s a first official label mix courtesy of the founder himself, we’ve been listening repeatedly to this vibefilled set of tracks since before the weekend, it just gets better and better. Download and get ready for an hour of non-stop action.

Sinjin Hawke – I’m On One Remix

Sinjin Hawke offers up a tasty hijack of Dj Khaled’s summer anthem “I’m On One”, and even though it cuts out Drake, Ross and Wayne from their respective verses, it warps the original into an arpeggio echoing dancefloor workout bringing out the full power of the instrumental’s potential and adding a few extra flourishes.

Look at Sinjin’s Soundcloud for a cove of extra free edits and reworks, and await his debut EP on Pelican Fly later this year with baited breath.

Shame on us for missing this fantastic edit DJ Gregory’s “Tropical Soundclash” from Fade To Mind alumni, recent remixer of the up-and-coming Pelican Fly label and total heartthrob Rizzla when he posted it up a month ago. Here, he turns the original track into the kinda thing that queer vampires might listen to while trying on clothes in the mirror before going out, glistening with a sheen of mystical apocalyptic nervousness. Mister Tweeks – Numéro Sept EP

FLY002, the second release on outstanding independent label Pelican Fly is out now. It features original tracks Numéro Sept, Money and Elevator as well as remixes by High Powered Boys, Rizzla and Lucid.

Rizzla’s take on “Money” is especially hypnotic, weaving through scaling synths and cumbia influenced percussion. But it’s tough to beat the accordian and squawking background bird noises weaved in between pitched vocals and darting bongo power of the original.
