Discobelle premiere in the house!

From our friends in grooved out/funked up/disco outfit FSQ we received this alternate and extended DJ dub version of their remix for Los Angeles producer B Bravo. The original version of the remix appears on B Bravo’s “Paradise Remixed” album (also on the “Paradise Remixed” compilation are remixes from XL Middleton, Simbad, Pillowtalk, Captain Planet, Teeko, Jaël and Grandfeather) which was recently released via the Bastard Jazz label.

The original version of the track is a super smooth affair but the FSQ crew put in a very different “Caribbean Disco” sounding remix of the track with member GKoop spearheading the production of the remix. GKoop has been busy this year as the co-writer of platinum-selling hip-hop hits like “It’s a Vibe” by 2 Chainz and “Bad and Boujee” by Migos. Fortunately, he took time out of his hectic schedule for FSQ and brought in drummer Marquisse Moore and pianist Graham Richards to give the remix a strong dose of Borinquen flavor and highlights the percussion we peppered the mix with: woodblocks, congas, bongos, and clappers in order to make everyone dance.

Let the beat play on and enjoy this special exclusive FSQ “Caribbean Disco Dub” of B Bravo’s “Freak It”!

San Francisco outfit PillowTalk’s own Michael Tello has remixed the Denali single, one of the stand out tracks on the second album from Life on Planets ‘Assemblage Points’ released last December. It’s the first glimpse at the upcoming package of remixes that will be released on July 4th on Better on Foot Recordings, along with other versions from LA’s Droog, Berlin based Private Agenda, and Mallorquin band Round Shaped Triangles, among others.

NYC label and production/dj duo Wolf + Lamb (Gadi Mizrahi and Zev Eisenberg) announces the free download of their “Versus” LP, the compilation album showcases their collaborative efforts with Pillowtalk, Soul Clap, Nick Monaco, Night Plane, Voices Of Black and Greg Paulus. The whole thing comes packed with funky and sexy organic sounding house music that shimmers in tune with strobelights and was designed to make you shake that booty.

“With all its ups and downs, its climaxes and pitfalls, epic victories and sudden u-turns, the true story of Wolf + Lamb echoes the wisdom of fellow New York wiseass Woody Allen, who once remarked that “a relationship is like a shark. It has to constantly move forward or it dies.” Together Zev the wolf and Gadi the lamb have kept the shark alive for over a decade by embracing the courage to venture into uncharted waters—forever plumbing the depths, riding the waves, and scouting new horizons. Whether assuming the roles of production duo, DJ team, or label owners, Zev and Gadi have written every page of their true story with wit, ingenuity, disarming warmth, and good old Brooklyn swagger. Strong-willed and staunchly independent, the two have resolutely steered clear of conventions and the expectations of others, always believing that the only way forward is to follow the beat of your own inner drum, no matter where it takes you. In recent years audiences the world over have resonated with this singular vision, eschewing minimal machismo fist pumps and embracing Wolf + Lamb’s glittery head-banded hug.”
