Rudi Zygadlo

Rudi Zygadlo drops a one off EP for British label Pictures Music. The “Achtung” EP is filled with a distinct pop character but that’s hidden under a flurry of unexpected twists and turns, abstract compositions and good humour. The track “Variously Made Men” showcases all those characters, abstract and crazy yet dancey and fun.

Rudi Zygadlo – Live From Planet Mu at Corsica Studios

Glaswegian Rudi Zygadlo is a musician like no other, seamlessly mixing bass-heavy dubstep with elements of classical music, jazz melodies, disco rhythms and electronics. Not easy to pull off, especially with such style and panache. Now residing in Berlin, Rudi describes his music as a fusion, a sound created in his head that brings together such disparate influences as Frank Zappa, Eastern European classical music, and Aphex Twin, to create a completely new and original form. Rudi’s debut 12″, ‘Resealable Friendship’, was released on Planet Mu in March 2010, followed shortly after by his first long-player ‘Great Western Laymen’. A true melting pot of styles, textures and sounds, Rudi Zygadlo is a very unique artist indeed.

Stream Rudi’s live set recorded at the Planet Mu party at Corsica Studios in London for a dose of genre-fuckery in the best possible sense of the world – glam pop fusion and dubstep filtered through the kind of self awareness that only someone who used to make breakcore music can have in retrospect. Thanks to Red Bull Music Academy Radio for the hookup.

Starkey – Pressure

Philadelphian producer Starkey (of Seclusiasis + Trouble & Bass fame) is about to release the album “Ephemeral Exhibits” on Planet Mu next monday. The track “Pressure” showcases Starkey’s Street Bass sound which sees him pairing off grime and melodic dubstep to create sort of a Philly version of London club music.
