The Plant Music crew are throwing another edition of their monthly “What We Live For” parties today (June 18th) over in NYC. To promote the party they handed us two brand new remixes from outfits on their roster. First we have Kap10Kurt with a remix of Melbourne trio Clubfeet and their track “Teenage Suicide” and then we have Manclub with his remix of latest The Glass single “Wanna Be Dancin”.

SAM YOUNG (SEED 026) revised AGAIN

We have featured Sam Young here on Discobelle frequently. So now that he’s releasing an EP on Plant Music, we are of course on it. The release that also features MC Aphletik was originally made in 2005 but is now re-released on Plant Music with remixes from Lee Mortimer, Steed Lord, Karoshi & DC Joseph and Beatnik has been out on iTunes since May 15th. Listen to the remix by Steed Lord then go to iTunes and buy the EP.

Trouble Is A Friend

Tuesday, May 12th, 2009

Australian songstress Lenka, formerly the voice for indie band Decoder Ring, moved to L.A last year and recorded her solo debut. “Trouble is a Friend” is the second single from the album. The track has been remixed by some great talent and since it is not going to be released it goes straight to the blogs. We choose to feature the remix from London’s Sam Roqwell & I Sancho (DJ Sam Young, whose new single “Peep This” drops on Plant Music later this month).

Everything that NYC dj/producer Eli Escobar touches turns into instant greatness, take this remix of Australian songstress Lenka and the track “Trouble Is A Friend” for example (lifted from her upcoming single). Soothing disco with handclaps, pitter patter drums, swirling synths and ethereal vocals. We could listen to this for days…

Our friends in Plant Music are doing a benefit party in Brooklyn tonight. If you’re in the area, head on out since it looks like good fun and it’s for a good cause (All proceeds from the parties will go to support the UnionDocs space and the artist residency programs it supports). We got this remix by Dolby Anol of the Kap10Kurt “Mission Complete” track to promote the event.

Rolling into a new week which will take us to Paris, Berlin and then next week we’re off to the US for SXSW and later on WMC.

As you can tell it’s busy days here at Discobelle HQ but it’s good thing we have this excellent mix by Dominique Keegan (AKA All Dom Wrong, founder of Plant Music and ½ of NYC/Berlin duo The Glass) to keep us company. The mix features many upcoming unreleased Plant Music tracks including the new single by The Glass (with a Nadastrom remix), new tracks from Clubfeet, a Sam Young track (in the form of a remix by Lee Mortimer) and lots more.
