The Adventures of Soul Clap Podcast, Episode 88: DJ Kon

Sunday mix for you all taken from the Soul Clap podcast series, Boston based DJ Kon is someone we’ve been unaware of but apparently somewhat of legend in his hometown and Soul Clap considers him one of their mentors. This spectacular mix of grooved out, sexy disco/house is taken from a session done in the confines of his lab and it pops off in a big way.

“…From disco to boogie to jazz funk and latin… and the dancers go off ! I purposely didnt include any of my own edit/remixes. With that being said, I knew it would be summer time, my favorite time & warm sounds resonate with me most, but I also wanted to include a moody vibe as well and drop some house… a side of me that many seem not to know im into, so I close out the mix with a favorite tune of mine by my homie Eli Escobar …”Anniversary” (which is rumored to drop at the end of the summer) as well as a remix by Julio Bashmore ( a new fav producer of mine) and a few other house jams. Im loving the return to the 88-90 sound of house.. that Detroit touch, simple.. banging, party time…lets go.. dance floor shit.”

French Fries for The Boiler Room

French Fries recently played at The Boiler Room in London and he tore the roof of that place, just listen.

“Did you all know that French Fries is the number one French guy in the world right now? He’s even halfway towards being the best thing to come out of France since the French Fancy (note: did some research and French Fancies aren’t French at all, what a scam).”

XLR8R Podcast 197: John Talabot

Mysterious Barcelona based producer John Talabot with a summery blessed mix/podcast done for XLR8R, filled with his precious brand of discohouse.

“This week, Talabot released another batch of new music, the “Families EP”, via Young Turks. To commemorate the occasion, Talabot has put together an exclusive mix for the XLR8R podcast series, an offering that finds the mysterious auteur hazily winding his way through sun-soaked house, spacey disco, washy techno, and all points in between.”

RBMA x Pig Radio: Floating Points

Red Bull Music Academy are gearing up for their next event that will take place this fall in Madrid (original plans for Tokyo were scrapped due to the recent tragic events in Japan), they teamed up with the fine people over at Italian media conglomerate Pig Radio for an interesting podcast/mix/interview with British producer/dj Floating Points.

“Today is the day of Sam Shepherd aka Floating Points, one of the most appreciated producers among british radio DJs, from Mary Anne Hobbes to Benji B via the legendary Gilles Peterson. In the last three years Sam has released several 12” including our favourite “Vacuum Boogie”. In 2010 together with Rinse.FM’s Alexander Nut he founded Eglo Records, which became in a short while one of the reference label for the new british sounds. In the next days Eglo will release “The Follow You EP”, a collaboration between Floating Points and the soul singer Fatima. It’s about a “journey through soul, gospel, blues and house”, which are some of the genres of Shepherd’s musical background. While we are waiting, you can spend one hour listening to some very good music, selected and described by him, through the link below.”

Their latest quick fix edit from German producer Jorge Takei of the 2000 smash r’n'b hit track “Separated” by Avant is no exception with its pulsating, steady beat and smooth vocals. We’ll be spinning this throughout the summer.
