I Love London

Monday, November 16th, 2009

We’ve had a thing for Crystal Fighters since the “Xtatic Truth” single (and especially the stunning Renaissance Man and L-Vis 1990 remixes), the new single dropping today from the multinational five piece is called “I Love London” and it has done the rounds on the internet already so we guess Kitsuné wanted to drop it while it was hot. Remixers galore on this one with offerings from In Flagranti (get it at RCRD LBL), Qoso, Lorcan Mak, 80 Kidz (can be found over at Big Stereo), Delta Heavy, Matt Walsh & Alex Jones, and Brackles. The remix we have for you strangely enough didn’t make it onto the single but we still dig it big time, Finnish power duo Femme En Fourrure with a remix that gives us less electro/dance/pop and more of a mellow tribal house feeling.

British downtempo/loungey duo Zero 7 (Henry Binns and Sam Hardaker), are set to release their fourth studio album “Yeah Ghost” on September 7th. This is the first single off the album and it’s called “Everything Up (Zizou)” (it comes backed with remixes from among others NYC disco weirdos Mock n Toof which can be found over at RCRD LBL, dubstep big shots Joker & Ginz) which could be a homage to French footballer Zinedine Zidane. The track features vocals from Henry Binns and Eska Mtungwazi, it’s a slick and shimmering piece of pop goodness. We received this remix by Japan obsessed London producer Gold Panda who turns it into a bleeped out affair.

Remix Amanda Blank

Sunday, May 31st, 2009

Downtown Records are running a remix competition with Amanda Blank. Since we know we got a lot of upcoming producers around here we thought we might give it a push.

“Producers, DJs, and Remixers: Downtown Records wants to hear your remix of Amanda Blank’s “Might Like You Better“. Join the ranks of fellow Amanda Blank producers Diplo, Armani XXXChange, and Dave Sitek. The 5 best submissions will appear on a RCRD LBL feature, the Downtown Records website, the Amanda Blank Official Website, the Amanda Blank Myspace, Facebook, and Imeem Profiles. The selected tracks will receive the benefit of the full weight of Downtown Records promotion. This is not only a great opportunity to remix a great performance off of Amanda Blank’s upcoming Record, “I Love You”, it’s also an opportunity for aspiring producers, remixers, and DJs to get exposure for their underappreciated work.”

The Flosstradamus boys have been sort of quiet for the last couple of months but it looks like they finally started churning out some tracks. This is a partied up remix of the Totally Michael track “Casual Satisfaction” which also features the legendary general of juke DJ Gantman.

Kid606 – European Barbarians Get Down mix

I remember catching Kid606 a few years back at the Sonar festival in Barcelona, he played in some church near the MACBA in the smoldering heat one afternoon and he absolutely blew that place to pieces and brought a sweaty dancing mass down with him. Since then he’s worked on his Tigerbeat6 label, he’s moved to Berlin and is now ready for the release of his new album “Shout At The Doner” (drops April 28th). Here’s a smashing mix to get your juices flowing in anticipation of that release.

BONUS: Check the bassline heavy track “Mr Wobbles Nightmare” courtesy of RCRD LBL, it’s posted along with a raved up Acid Jacks remix.
