Brenmar – Let Me Hit Dat

Feels like just yesterday that Brenmar was tearing through Japan, marvelling at the heated toilet seats and wandering through Harajuku’s parks. Now he’s off again on a European tour accompanied by Dillon Francis and tomorrow night’s Boiler Room guest Mele.

In preparation for this tour, we’ve got a Chicago styled sex anthem re-edited with some twerky electronic noodling courtesy of Brenmar. It’s definitely the kind of thing you don’t want to play in a car if you’re driving your grandmother somewhere. Not that that just happened to me… i’m.,.. just saying.

Always Hungry For Horse Meat

Horse meat is both a questionable beef alternative as well as a camp of dancefloor disco camp divas with a skill for digging up old records and bringing out the special something that we forgot about in them. For Tambi’s “You Don’t Know”, Horse Meat Disco bring the keys to the forefront and space out a bit under the track’s powerful gospel-style vocals. The original already packs a punch, and though their improvements are subtle, the end product comes out sounding even more polished.

Download it below in exchange for your social insurance number. Just joking, they only want your email.

Young Edits – Move Me Up EP

One of the most unexpectedly powerful releases this summer has GOT to be the Foot and Mouth released ‘Young Edits – Move Me Up EP’, four sublime balearic edits by Austrailian Luke Foskey.

‘How We Walk On The Moon’ is Arthur Russell re-edited right, his vocals sound cloud-partingly sublime, with the additional tweaks and percussion that’s been added bringing out all the emotional impact of jumping off a waterfall naked. And let’s talk about the Kate Bush “Cloudbusting” edit, jeeez. When she utters “Ooh, I just know that something good is gonna happen”, you, the listener, totally believe her.

The two b-side tracks employ some samples that are a bit harder to pin down, but from start to finish, this is a slice of balearic bliss. Stream the whole EP below and grab it on Juno. There’s a vinyl out now too.

grownfolk

The-Dream, Lil Wayne and Kelly Rowland – Motivation (Grown Folk Bootleg)

Grown Folk provide a tasteful re-edit for a song about less than tasteful “grown folk stuff”. The end product is definitely not PG 13 pop music, but definitely one that showcases their genuine love for the source material.

Black Devil Disco Club/Galaxy Birthday

We got two new cool tracks from Dinosaur EGG in the mail.

First one is the new Galaxy Birthday re-edit by Plaisir de France. A French duet that’s featured on the “Seriously, Eric?” compilation. It has never been released and it will be on the first Plaisir de France album (which will feature artists like Chromeo, Etienne Daho, The Postmarks, Tiga, Blackstrobe etc.). The original video for the track can be found here:.

The other track is taken off the new Black Devil Disco Club re-edit album called “Dub”. Black Devil Disco Club is a french disco master, now aged 64, sampled by the Chemical Brothers, re-issued by Aphex Twin, remixed by Pilooski/Metronomy/Emperor Machine/Tacteel…This track has never been released and his new album is coming out on Lo Rec (June 14th).

Eurovision meets Intergaláctico

The summer club Intergaláctico will open their doors for the first night this Thursday. They’ll be going strong between 21-03 every Thursday for the rest of the summer at F12. It’s gonna be an Intergaláctico summer.

But what does that have to do with the Eurovision Song Contest last Saturday? Well, they sent over their re-edit of the winning song “Fairytale” and it has never sounded this good before. This almost makes up for me suffering through the Eurovision Song Contest.
