RCMP

We did a post about RCMP back in February when their tracks made us dream of summer. Now their debut, the “RCMP EP”, is about to drop on Flamin Hotz in a joint venture with Young Robots (street date is June 23rd, vinyl only and it comes backed with remixes from Cousin Cole and Pumpkin Patch). This track “Ibiza, PA” is on that warm, fuzzy tip with discohouse elements of epic proportions.

“RCMP is the creation of DJ Apt One and Relative Q. They make dance music for those who yearn to be unpretentious and animalistic creatures of the discothèque. DJ Apt One, Philadelphia DJ and member of Philadelphyinz, joined with Pittsburgh’s Relative Q in the Spring of 2008 to assemble several remixes. Ultimately, the two saw a mutual understanding of the visceral power of the musical bond between Cold War Europeans and their robot slaves. Studio experimentation led them to record “Mustache Love”, a track which brought a symphony of synths, conga players and strings to bear in a classic, but forward-thinking compositional style. Soon, the sound infiltrated some of the most influential discothèques in the world. It is rumored that babies conceived to this song are being groomed to lead a number of former Soviet republics. Their collaboration produced the body of work that is now known as the RCMP EP. Notable for its sophistication (“Mustache Love”), its cathartic emotional content “(Ibiza, PA”), its soaring grandiosity (“The Bird AKA Ignition”) and its brain-melting infectiousness (“USA Groove”), RCMP has been leaving dance floors aglow in pheremones, sweat and love.”

RCMP – The Bird aka Ignition

RCMP make disco music and it’s as easy as that.

“There was a time when there was a Cold War and AIDS didn’t exist yet. Music was different then. There was something more free and liberated about the music. We want to bring back the spirit of that time.”

Relative Q from Pittsburgh and DJ Apt One from Philadelphia got together to do a couple of edits and remixes last year. The feedback was good and the process fun so they decided to do som original stuff and release it. The result is boogiedisco thats got a some flavours of everything from ibiza bigrooms, african conga rythms and kraftwerk synths and vocoders. Dancefloor mania for sure.

RCMP are releasing their self-titled EP on Flamin Hotz records during the spring. Flamin Hotz is one of the dopest record labels around and always delivers solid and beautiful releases. This year they are doing a new thing, The Flamin Hotz Record Club, which means that you are able to subscribe to all the vinyl releases from Flamin Hotz during the year. You also get the tracks sent to you in a digital format a couple of weeks before the vinyl and the drop in stores. Ten releases are promised and you can get them all delivered to your door. This is a done deal for collectors and now they even ship worldwide! Make sure to check it out.

Here is a track from the RCMP EP, enjoy!

Say Yeah!

We got an e-mail from Philadelphyinz:

“We got together with our dude Relative Q and laid down this remix of Wiz Khalifa‘s “Say Yeah,” which a lot of people know as “the song that samples “Better off Alone” by Alice Deejay.” Wiz went to our high school in our hometown of Pittsburgh, works with some of our old buddies from the day and most importantly, dude can rap his ass off. So we figured we had to show some Pittsburgh love from Philly and New York by remixing what’s become his biggest track to date.”

Great way to give a excellent track some more life.
