Tiger & Woods – Wiki & Leaks Edits

No strangers to cheesy wordplay (Pop & Eye, Cleo & Patra, Larry & David serving as just some of their recent incarnations), mystery shrouded house producers Tiger & Woods are acting like it’s your birthday and dropping a free fifteen track LP of edits that’ve popped up in their live shows and on recent Resident Advisor podcasts – appropriately named the Wiki & Leaks files.

Given the duo’s previous penchant for extremely difficult to track down, sold out vinyl only imprints, it’s a really generous move to release several tonnes of their looped out, slow burning disco & house re-edits, not to mention a dream come true for diggers who’ll seek out the source material. If you haven’t done so yet, seems like there are a few copies of the David Woods recent EPs on the German Editainment imprint.

The Renaissance Man Project

When they’re not prepping their debut album “The Renaissance Man Project” then Finnish duo Renaissance Man makes electroish mixes such as this one for Resident Advisor, apparently they recorded it: “…Live on a Sunday morning on a rusty container ship hosting a 72-hour fetish party, sailing in the extra-legal international waters of the Baltic Sea” and we couldn’t give a more accurate description on how this mix sounds and feels. Be sure to keep an out for their forthcoming album and various other projects.

Resident Advisor label of the month: Night Slugs

The Night Slugs crew are taking over, one of the most prolific labels of 2010. Last week saw them dropping the hyped up single “Wut” from fellow London producer Girl Unit and today it was announced that they’re the label of the month over at Resident Advisor. L-Vis 1990 did this mix for Resident Advisor, showcasing exactly why they were named label of the month.

“This month’s label showcase comes courtesy of L-Vis 1990, one-half of the team behind Night Slugs. Over the course of three-quarters of an hour, he takes us through the neon-lit world of the label.”

Soul Clap bonanza

The Boston based house duo Soul Clap have selected a few of their favorite party rocking jams of the summer to share with the world and they now give us “The Clap & Friends FreE.P”.

“First in line are Wolf + Lamb/Double Standard label mates and Brooklyn unsung heroes Nick Debruyn & Greg Paulus aka No Regular Play with “Strange Cameo“. Their rework of an 80′s funk gem is inspired by many Marcy Hotel dancefloor moments and has an oh so classic house groove and fresh bass line begging to be danced to. Next up is a Washington DC based industry newcomer, but after hours veteran, Navid Zahraie aka NavBox. His breakout contribution “He Likes You Too” is a stunning and emotional rework of an American singer-songwriter. This tune was one of the most magical moments of Soul Clap’s 2010 Sunday School For Degenerates DJ set that had DJ T of Get Physical fames’s jaw dropping and feet moving. Then from over the pond in the UK are the Leeds institution of Mark Caramelli and Paul Hargreaves, better known as Death On The Balcony. A few months back Soul Clap remixed them for their Magic Bag Records imprint and after a few gigs together in Leeds everyone has become close friends. They bring a dancefloor bomb with a sense of humor to the release with “Cruel Banana“. This 80′s pop hit gets a monster drum pump and rolling bassline guaranteed to please and cheese. Finally, to complete the release the Soul Clap vaults have been opened to reveal “Falling From The Sky“. This piece was written around the same time as The RnB FreE.P., but never saw the light of day. With 90′s NYC at it’s filter heavy core, we’ve built a drum and synth framework that sets an afterhours mood perfect for falling from the sky and of course puffing tough.”

Fever+Ray

Fever Ray vs. Resident Advisor

Fever Ray just did a special Halloween themed podcast for Resident Advisor. The tracks were chosen by Karin Dreijer-Andersson herself along with her touring group members Van Rivers, The Subliminal Kid and Flash. Enjoy this droning scary mix/podcast!

“…to put together a very special RA podcast in advance of Halloween, featuring tracks that could soundtrack the season. Some are obvious (Shackleton, Burial Hex), some less so (Bruce Haack, Amadou & Miriam) and some take on a new resonance because of the context (Neil Young, Krause Duo). But as Andersson herself puts it, “I think the eclectic and wide range of music makes it more dynamic and more intense. The tracks affects each other, they get even more mean.” We think that once you get done listening to this mixtape-like selection from Andersson and the rest of the Fever Ray touring group, you’ll no doubt agree.”
