LOL BOYS – Porteils

Hard to contain one’s excitement for new LOL Boys material when their press pics deliver in a deeply visceral satisfying way that few things in the world do, but also because it’s near impossible to predict where their direction will be going. One track, it’s a sweat soaked percussion rave buzzing with static electricity, and then they flip the script and give us a jam like LDR, an evocative “not quite slow jam but 95% there” that employs some longing drenched vocals to devastatingly precise effect.

It sounds like discovering a rainforest oasis that’s only accessible through a hidden glitch in Second Life, and feels as refreshing as diving into it. This track is part of a Scion collaborative EP that you can read more about on XLR8R.

Kingdom – Uptown Buck

A new Scion collaboration with Trouble & Bass has produced this new “Sound of NYC” imprint, featuring contributions from Cubic Zirconia, Drop The Lime, Hussle Club, and this cut up club masterpiece by Kingdom, which merges the club rave and hip hop influences together in a chirpring, stutter step inducing package.

Also, Kingdom’s new collaboration with Girl Unit on Night Slugs white label vinyl series drops this Thursday and includes a pitched up re-imagining of Ciara’s “Ride” which will haunt your dreams for a while, most likely.

Drop The Lime – Bourbon Blitz

We imagine that this exactly what would be blasting out of the jukebox when we’re blitzed out on bourbon at a speakeasy, Drop The Lime with his contribution to the forthcoming Scion A/V EP, “Trouble & Bass: Sounds of NYC”. Download “Bourbon Blitz” via the widget below.

The song is produced by the Marc Kinchen aka MK and is definitely rooted in classic house that’s guaranteed to make you dance. Juan Atkins – Marz (Worthy Remix)

New release from the uber productive folks over at Scion continues the tradition of their previous Dirtbombs/ Omar-S collaborative release, pairing old dance music legend Juan Atkins with fresh faced house music purveyor Worthy.

Godfather of techno Juan Atkins continues his lifelong dedication to the genre he founded by harnessing its alien sounds and pushing his brand of futurism on the dancefloor. These three new, heavily layered tracks are abstract works of art that you can dance to. In turn, the remixers have pushed Atkins’ tracks to more experimental, more organic and more poppier places. It’s a perfect set of sounds for whatever part of the galaxy you’re listening in.

Worthy twists the patterns of the Atkins’ original into a techno-cumbia bounce anthem. Its robust bassline and syncopated programming anchor it through its acidy flourishes. It’s a real smile-inducing, crowd activating rerub.
