YDNA – Safari

Jul 8 2015

Exploited Ghetto, the Berlin based sub-label of the paramount house  imprint, Exploited, discovers newcomer, YDNA and his debut offering, “Safari.” This tribal work-out offers a funky, shuffling beat, muted chords and an elephantine synth riff that is truly epic. Layer on some ominous, rain-storm samples and savannah sounds and you’re transported to the Serengeti for a lush ride through the open range.

If the latest release from Berlin based Bastian of quality house music, Exploited Records, is any indication of what they have planned for the rest of 2015, I’d say we have some stellar joints to look forward to! Exploited label’s own goldenchild, Mickey, drops his new single in the form of ‘You Know The Beat,’ a chunky house stepper with a rollicking bass groove, jaunty piano stabs and some mean, vintage funk sample appropriation… hawtness to keep your bahdy warm during these cold months.

Shir Khan always brings all things deep and funky when it comes to his extraordinary imprint, Exploited. The Sercret Gold series has given us some of the best underground tracks from the likes of Piemont, Huxley and Claptone, the sixth and latest installment is no different.

Secret Gold 6 starts out with my personal favorite, “Give It To Me” by PJU which features Josh Caffe & Robert Owens on the vocals. A soulful yet modern house track, it’s heavy on the horns and synths while hyper-sexed vocal cuts take the track to new heights. The rest of the EP is solid until the very end, Belgium’s very own Antilope’s dreamy concoction “Body Trouble” comes in next and is smooth mixture of deep house and dream pop. Finishing it off Kevin McKay (from Glasgow Underground) gives us a tribal tech house jam with “Everythings A Dream”, and newcomer Will Clarke’s wobbly “Gunna Give U” is a floor focused stomper.

You can purchase Secret Gold 6 now on Beatport, so what are you waiting for?! Go on and get down!

We just received this new video from Shir Khan and Exploited Records, their latest release is “Shir Khan presents: Black Jukebox 01” that sees them dip their toes into the world of disco edits with the launch of new sublabel Black Jukebox. On the first effort we see contributions from label regulars Homework as well as introducing the Hamburg axis better known as Doctor Dru & Adana Twins. The latter lead the way with their slo-mo housed-up boogie-soul joint “Juicy Fruit”. Early support comes from top players such as A-Trak, Round Table Knights, Sinden, DJ Sneak, Oliver $, Digitalism, James Friedman etc.

British artist James Yuill has been something of a staple here on Discobelle with his folktinged dreamy electronic pop. He released his sophomore album “Movement In A Storm” (released by Moshi Moshi) last year, it comes with single “Crying For Hollywood” (that drops next week) and a remix from German club mogul Shir Khan that spruces up the track with a polished discoey feel to push it to the dancefloor.

Back in 2007 German dj/producer Shir Khan started up his label Exploited Records and since then the label has grown into a force to be reckoned with within the dance music scene. Next week – Friday Oct 16th – sees the label indulge in a birthday bonanza at Villa in Berlin with an all-star line up of dj’s including Italian but London based Deadfish mogul Mowgli, Berlin duo Malente & Dex, label head Shir Khan, Amsterdam duo Homework, Swedish world travelers Savage Skulls, Berlin dj/producer Jack Tennis and special guests Siriusmo & Jan Driver + local Malmö girl Gnucci Banana will be performing live and those who have seen her wreck havoc on the stage will know that Villa will most likely be left in shambles after her gig.

We’ve also got a special treat for those of you that prefer your parties in the mp3-format, 8 banging tracks courtesy of Exploited Records. Enjoy!
