Metronomy are about to release the second single off the “Nights Out” album. It’s called “A Thing For Me” (releasedate is December 15th) and thanks to Nile On we can give you this remix (the other remixes of the single comes courtesy of Mad Decent, Breakbot, Fontän, Nightmoves and Blackout Crew) from our old homie Sinden who turns the romantic electropop original to a more hectic and funked up club track.

Whoa, our boy Sinden remixes the semi-new track “Run It” from hip hop heroes EPMD. He provides it with some sweet UK Garage flavour. Also, both Hervé and Duke Dumont join in on the fun for the Scion single release which will drop on October 20th.

DJ Mujava – Township Funk (video)

Thursday, July 17th, 2008

The DJ Mujava Kwaitodance number “Township Funk” was featured on Sindens “We Make It Good vol.3″ mix and although it might be a bit old in mp3blog time it’s still banging and it’s been the talk of Grindin this week.

“Township Funk” is tough, dark, African dance music from the industrial city of Pretoria, South Africa. It’s perhaps the most infectious dance record you’ll hear this year, echoing the early Warp sound of LFO or the Forgemasters in an uncanny way, almost 20 years on, across continents. Is South Africa the new hip place for electronic music? Maybe…but we certainly hope that South African house will go worldwide with this track.”

“Township Funk” will be released on Warp Records on 12″ on September 15th worldwide (excluding UK where This Is Music will be in charge) and available from all good digital outlets August 11th.

Shilo Presents: Sinden

Wednesday, June 25th, 2008

The third installment in the Shilo Presents series just hit the internet.

It was always going to be hard to compete with the 2 previous DJ mixes in the series (large up Pretty Titty, Chris Devlin) but i managed to surpass them (haha jokes!). Nah serious that’s too bold a claim, but I am happy with how it turned out. Its a fair representation of some of the jams i’m playing in my club sets right now. And the mix is very ‘right now’. As I write this, none of the tracks have been released yet. Not that I just play dubs, mind. I draw loads of old and familiar tunes, too, because that would be dumb and who cares how exclusive you are anyhow. I really wanted the mix to be a kinda preview to a whole bunch of stuff to get excited about in the forthcoming months. It was a good place to air some new productions fresh out the HD (machines dont care, the count and sinden) and big up a few new cats too (rude kid, detboi, mujava). Enjoy!

Ron Carroll (Bart B-More remix)

Dutch house producer Bart B-More gives us his strutting, jacking house version of the Ron Carroll track “Nike Song” and includes one of the sweetest breaks we’ve heard this year. Count Of Monte Cristal & Sinden have also done a remix of this track but the Bart B-More one bangs harder. (Bushy over at the low-bee forum posted this)

The Machines Don’t Care project has been the talk of Grindin’ for some time, centered around Discobelle faves Hervé and Sinden but other collaborators currently includes Fake Blood, Drop The Lime, Trevor Loveys, Detboi, Toddla T and Affie Usuf. You can expect fresh and top class electro/fidget/jacking house from these guys so here’s a mini mix to get you excited about the 12″ sample releases in June and the CD release in July.

Beeper (Detboi remix)

Domino just dropped this in our mailbox. “Beeper” looks to keep going strong in 2008 with a slew of remixes (both A-Trak and Fake Blood have already given us some serious heat with their efforts). Detboi gives us his choppy bassfilled take on the club banging ode to beepers made by one of our favorite UK production teams. They’re known as Count Of Monte Cristal & Sinden, a dynamic duo that should need no further introduction.
