Posed as a spotlight for rappers and vocalists stamped with the SOULECTION seal of approval, the recent launch of the brand’s Black Label imprint gives the North American powerhouse a chance to refine an otherwise on/off run of release from the brand throughout 2018. Cut from the label’s inaugural EP, LA-collective Hablot Brown take center stage alongside multi-talented Londoner Maths Time Joy for ‘Reason’ – a surefire sign that SOULECTION is back on track. Lucious guitar licks and impeccable vocal finesse dress this soulful slice of instrumentally refined R&B, giving a pretty solid indicator that Black Label isn’t to be marked as a half measure venture from Joe Kay’s gang.

Soulection starlet Chris McClenney is gearing up to release his Portrait In Two EP in early January 2017 and we’ve got the premiere for a pair of his remixes today. While ‘soul’ seems to be a common missing component from so much of the mundane musical trash that circulates the web these days, there’s no shortage of profound emotion reverberating throughout McClenney’s renditions of his own productions “Tell Me” and “Pearl.” While the remixes won’t be on the EP, fear not – the originals will be. Perfect for easy listening with your boo or getting the party started, both renditions can be downloaded for free.

While Valentine’s day has come and gone, yet again, we at Discobelle are a site full of romantics, so we’re willing to comb through all of the February 14th mixes released by a variety of artists and feel serious vibes beyond just the one special day.

Soulection‘s Jarreau Vandal has released a mix for all of your needs, on Valentines day or otherwise. There’s a full interview over at i-D here.

Samantha Duenas (better known as SOSUPERSAM) has been very busy. From her heavy tour schedule to her SUP? mix series, not to mention her 143 parties – a 90’s r&b/rap monthly – that has grown to be one of LA’s most wild nights. With no signs of slowing down, the Soulection DJ teams up with producer JR Jarris on her latest original work “Like.” The smooth yet bass heavy r&b track features Duenas’ own mesmerizing and confident vocal work, proving that 2016 will no doubt be the year of SOSUPERSAM.

The track is available for free download, so go on and press play and get ready to get down.
