“Techno retirees strike back with a dose of cheesy keys & firm beats to make everything fresh again!

Age equals courage. When you are old and experienced, you no longer think about what others consider good, new or cool. You just take what’s best from the years of music and make it your own. Fearless! If it works, it works.

The three men of Mvsevm could be techno retirees, but these men got together to stitch up beats, bleeps and blissful synth interludes that would light up the bleakest of the Dark Ages. The sound is massive and minimal at the same time, the beats flutter ahead rigid as a North Korean military parade yet the groove is elastic like that of virgin leggings. Contradictions! When you’ve lived long enough, you embrace them rather than fear them.

You smell the dust as the bones of the thin-limbed composers creak, but the perspective of these geezers ensures a ride as exhilarating as… well, whatever the teens these days do for kicks.

Better to be a reborn has-been than a dead-end wannabe.”

It has been a while since we started to look for something worthy enough for us to release on Discobelle Records. When we found this Finnish trio in MVSEVM we knew we were on to something big. And big it is. This was what we were looking for.

We also wanted to work with some of our favourite producers on the remixes, so we went hunting for people who could spin this around and give their own personal touch to the track. I think we and they did good.

You can get the whole release on Beatport next Friday. But until then you can have a little sneak peak of three of the tracks here:

Fake Blood – Mars (Style Of Eye “Tool For School” remix)

Fake Blood had one of the biggest dancefloor tracks of 2008 with “Mars” and now it comes packed with a remix EP on Cheap Thrills next week. The EP contains remixes from Hervé, Jack Beats, Style of Eye & Boy 8 Bit. This techhousey number from Style Of Eye hints at the original but still maintains a vibe entirely on its own. A Play Of Nonsense

The fine people over at award winning and much talked about Swedish clothing label Uniforms For The Dedicated just released their Autumn/Winter 2010 collection which is entitled “A Play Of Nonsense”, the collection is enthused by the imaginary literature of the 19th-century where among others Lewis Carroll mastered the art of transforming everyday objects into a new and challenging meaning. We here at Discobelle join them for a partnership seeing that they’ve also opened up their brand new stylish webshop.

At the same time the label has decided to unleash their second music project that bears the same name as the Autumn/Winter 2010 collection. The EP was produced by Jonas Rathsman and Nils Krogh, joining them is the Gothenburg outfit Ram Di Dam (who just released their debut EP “A Liar to Admire”) and they also got their friends Swedish tech house heroStyle Of Eye, club killer Krazy Fiesta, Gothenburg electro Stuffa + Stockholm/Berlin techno duo Wester & Wedrén to deliver some hard hitting remixes of the track meaning that the EP is bound to have a little something for everyone.

OSC09

A new festival is popping up in Stockholm this summer, it’s called OSC09. It will take place between August 13th-August 15th, it’s a collaboration between Restaurang Landet and the art centre Färgfabriken. The focus is on electronic music (art, live – and club music) and it will also integrate film, seminars and exhibitions with the music. In total there will be 25 artists, 25 exhibitions, 10 clubs and three stages. The aim is to become Stockholms own Sonar festival.

We at Discobelle can offer two lucky people passes for all three days of the festival, all you have to do is answer this question: “What’s the name of the label that headlining act The Juan Maclean are signed to?”. Send your answers here with the subject line “OSC09″.

Some of the artists performing are: The Juan Maclean (US), ADA (DE), Todd Terje (NO), Style Of Eye (Swe), Sick Girls (DE), Adrian Lux (Swe), Heartsrevolution (US), The Field (Swe), Scuba (UK) etc.

For the complete lineup and more info about the festival, go to the OSC09 website.

Who’s There? remixes

Riton & Primary 1 getting a lending hand for their synthlaced monster “Who’s There?” (EP will be out next week on Phantasy Sound) from Swedish wonder Style Of Eye and from one our favorite UK geezers, L-Vis 1990. Both of them showing off their stuff but in way different manners. Style Of Eye delivers a strutty 8 minute opus twisting the synthline into circus mode and pitching the vocals down to scary, L-Vis 1990 on the other hand gives us a remix where he keeps the “Who’s There?” chorus + pressing the synth into manic mode all while adding some of that UK funky which you should know by now. (Thanks to Mad Decent and Darling Department)

Fragment One

Thanks to Haldan (Palms Out and danish label Music For Dreams) here’s another remix of the track “Fragment One” originally from label head honcho, Kenneth Bager. This time, it’s done up by our very own Swedish sensation Style Of Eye. This remix destroys on the dancefloor, and is building hype incredibly quickly. Style Of Eye is gaining steam at an incredible pace, and this track is one of his best yet.
