Something Golden

The three Finnish girls in electropop outfit Le Corps Mince De Francoise bursted onto the scene last year with the tracks “Bitch of the Bitches”, “Cool and Bored” and “Ray-Ban Glasses”.

Now, they’re returning better than ever with their debut album “Love & Nature” (production on the album comes courtesy of Kaiku Studios Berlin and Switch). The first taste of the new album is the single “Something Golden” (to be released by Kitsuné on the Kitsuné Maison 8 compilation set to drop November 9th, the actual single will be out December 7th). The original track is scattered with 90s-sounding ambient dub beats and a howling chorus. Their fellow countrymen in housetastic duo Renaissance Man continues their streak of producing fantastic tracks and remixes the original into an 8 minute bouncey affair that smoothly rides the “ooh-aah” vocal sample.

ToxicCover

The Toxic Avenger

Our French buddy, the electro demon known as The Toxic Avenger, is about to release two new records on September 29th. A new 12″ entitled “Toxic Is Dead” (out on Iheartcomix and it comes backed with remixes from Drop The Lime, Franki Chan and South Central) and also a Scion CD sampler compilation of that includes 5 new original tracks and of course a myriade of heavy remixes from the likes of Switch, The Juan Maclean, Acid Girls, Jakwob, Designer Drugs, Harvard Bass, Ocelot, Ladytron and Burns. He is also heading out on a Scion release tour in October to support the CD sampler, stops will be NYC, Austin, Cleveland and Philly.

We’ve got the storming title track “Toxic Is Dead” + an absolutely stunning tribalistic remix from the oh so talented L.A duo Acid Girls of the track “любовь навсегда”.

Jayou

This track was featured on Switch’s portion of the Major Lazer Essential Mix on BBC Radio One. He is also one of the remixers of the Tommie Sunshine track we had up a couple of days ago. What I’m trying to say is that Jayou is on fire with his tracks right now.

Major Lazer giveaway

Major Lazer (the Jamaican commando who lost his arms in the secret zombie war of 1984 and had them replaced by lazers) has a new album coming out on the 16th of June (check his twitter page). He sent us some prize packs to promote it. We got two Major Lazer packs which contain: a t-shirt, CD and vinyl each to give away.

Just send us an email and we will draw two to win the prizepack (US only). Put “I helped Major Lazer kill a zombie” in the subject.

Major Lazer has enlisted Diplo and Switch for a full North American tour. Tourdates after the jump:

Hold The Line

Major Lazer with the first leak from their much anticipated upcoming (June 16th) debut album “Guns Don’t Kill People… Lazers Do”. This tune is straight up muscles! (Via Mad Decent)

“The world is likely not ready for the arrival of Diplo & Switch’s musical machination Major Lazer; a renegade commando with a lazer arm and a rocket-powered skateboard who fights legions of Vampires, Zombies, Pimps, Mummies and other unsavory forces of evil. The first album in years of original material by these two highly regarded producers, the music is Diplo & Switch’s interpretation and homage to the songs and sounds they have discovered through the years.. The identity of Major Lazer was created by the two producers as a conduit to express their affinity for Jamaican music. The album references dancehall, ska, reggae, dub, calypso, and soca music recontextualized via Diplo and Switch’s club friendly background.”

Bonus: “Zumbi” which features Andy Milanokis.

FADER TV: Major Lazer (Live at the Levi’s®/FADER Fort)

Everybody who didn’t make it out to SXSW this year really missed out on something amazing. Lucky for you, the kind people over at The Fader rented a camcorder and shot their own small home videos. Here is one with what might be the most anticipated supergroup in blog history. Diplo and Switch is teaming up to form Major Lazer. As Paul Devro put it: “baby crying over autotune is sooo next level”.

Remember: Guns don’t kill people, LAZERS do!!!!

Jesse Rose – Essential Mix

Truly an essential mix from Berlin based producer Jesse Rose. Also check his recent effort, the amazing single “Forget My Name” (released on Dubsided, the label run by Switch) which also features Hot Chip.

Mystery Jets – Plimsouls remix

It’s been a few weeks since Bristolian electro/house producer Plimsouls graced the pages of Discobelle. But now he’s back with a remix of the Mystery Jets single “Two Doors Down”. The Erol Alkan produced band made a wise decision when they gave remixing duties to Plimsouls, pure electro goodness and this will without a doubt make the dancefloor lose it.

Late Of The Pier – Focker (Rolmops remix)

British 80′s flavoured electro/rock quartet and Erol Alkan proteeges Late Of The Pier will most likely be one of the bands to watch out for in 2008. Here’s the Rolmops remox of “Focker” which was co-produced with Erol Alkan and is the other track on the double A-side single (will be released on May 19th) along with “Space And The Woods” (check Fluokids for the Switch remix of that). This is maybe not normally what we post here on Discobelle, the original version of “Focker” has been described as “electro madness and Daft Punk Vs Gary Numan on LSD”, it’s a bit weird but good.

Nadastrom

Since I’m out of words on how to write another post about American Boy I’m going to leave it to the promo mail we got:

“Washington, DC figureheads Dave Nada and Matt Nordstrom first joined forces in the fall of 2007 for their weekly party “trap”. Every week after some heavy drinking, the two discussed the meaning of life and a few song ideas they had. Their initial tracks caught the attention of Dave “Switch” Taylor who immediately wanted them for his legendary Dubsided imprint. With tunes getting support from the likes of Diplo, A-trak, Tittsworth, The Rub, Craze, Klever, Drop the Lime, and Jokers of the Scene, these dudes look to set the game on fire. Here’s a preview…”

New NADASTROM EP coming soon on Dubsided! Stay tuned for an all new Dubsided website!!
