Rey Aguilar’s bodytalk label hits their seventh release with a lovely, remix package for Chris Forteir’s, Approved Electronic Device moniker. Enlisting the help of A-list talent to handle the duties, we get versions from the likes of MANIK, Brett Johnson and Aguilar as well. Brett Johnson takes the reigns with a triple threat of treatments on offer. His pulsating, “Main Mix” version is the crown jewel with its layers of arpeggios and rolling 808’s… there are also the “Stripped Down Dub” and “Stripped Down Dub – AED Dub” where Approved Electronic Device adds his own flares to the final product.

MANIK steps up next to take us deep into the East borough with his “Brooklyn Mix…” a tribal infused rework with staccato drum programming and loads of vintage percussion and dubbed out vocals. Closing things out, we have label owner, Rey Aguilar, submitting his remix of “Fluture Toon,” the only remix to appear on the EP of said tune. Channelling a similar, vintage flare as MANIK’s version, Aguilar crafts a strong take that will surely make any dance floor work.

Just caught wind of this vibey little 12″ on Going Home featuring the analogue house talents of Maxine & Cleo. The “Celestial Frame Of Mind EP” is aptly titled as four cuts of raw, cosmic flavors expand across both sides of this lovely slice of wax. The titular track carries bright pads and crisp, 808 percussion… unfolding over 7 minutes of blissful, dance floor euphoria. “Kids pt.1 & pt.2” follow up with equally bittersweet emotions sprinkled upon thick beds of sizzling grooves… “pt.2” taking it just a tad further with a tougher exterior. Closing out the disc, we have “Lightness Of Being,” a gorgeous bumper that brings a fair share of acid flourishes to the mix, something we couldn’t be mad at if we tried.

Essential tracks right here. SNAG EM!

Demonstrating his deft A&R sense, Moon Harbour boss, Matthias Tanzmann taps the duo of Luca Donzelli & Mar-T for four firing tracks on their “Disco Techno Revolution EP.” Mar-T has more than a decade’s experience in the game. He has released countless big hitters on labels like WOW! and ALiVE and is a revered selector who has been resident DJ at Amnesia, Ibiza, since 1999. Here he links with Luca Donzelli, label manager at WOW!, and once more, the pair demonstrate their innate abilities to produce pure, dance floor shakers!

‘Disco Techno Revolution’ goes first and is a bristling track with turbo charged bass. It explodes into life over and over again with whirring machines and slick percussion, sure to make the club go wild. ‘Mama Loves You’ is deeper and more seductive, with cheeky drum patterns and stripped back funk layered with muttered vocals that are sure to become anthemic.

‘That Freaky Stuff’ goes back to hard hitting drums that are bold and commanding. As they loop over and over, blasts of busted bass add meat to the bones and ensure that crowds will be locked into the action from start to finish. Finally, ‘Hankel Heisen’ marries slick and rubbery bass with clever filter tweaks and sweeping synths to add up to a full fat, peak-time house bomb.

Amsterdam based producer, Nachtbraker scores his third outing on highly coveted imprint, Heist Recordings. With the “Pollo Con Pollo EP,” the young beat-smith displays an apparent refinement to his sound all while maintaining the unique and signature flairs that earned him the Detroit Swindle seal approval in the first place. The beats are heavy and swung but the grooves are deeper and funkier…something I really appreciate. Both A-Side cuts stand out (“Gotta Act To React” and “Pollo Con Pollo”) with their club ready sensibilities while the B-side clears the way for imagination and experimentation to roam free. Where “Intermezzo” and “Intermezzlow” could possibly find their uses in the right situation, the “Float Mix” of “Gotta Act To React” really is the pitch-perfect blend of all that Nachtbraker finds interesting when in the studio.

Discobelle is stoked to feature Austin based DJ/Producer and Octopus Recordings artist, BARBUTO,  in the 95th installment of our exclusive mix series. The Sydney, Australia native relocated to Austin roughly 7 years ago and has since established himself as a major player in the House and Techno scenes of the Live Music Capital of The World. As a resident DJ at the internationally acclaimed, Kingdom Night Club, BARBUTO has shared the decks with such talent as Booka Shade, Drumcell, Timo Maas and hosted label nights for his stalwarts at Octopus Recordings. His debut ep for the luminous imprint dropped earlier this year and was met with resounding praise… we featured his “Arcana EP” HERE.

In between his hectic schedule of production work, club gigs and international touring, BARBUTO found the time to bless us with this thick and chunky mix of slick grooves and heavy beats. His 70 minute mix is a superb offering to our series and one we think you’ll dig instantly. ENJOY!

Jorge Balarezo graces the Discobelle Mix with the latest transmission in our series. He’s laced a 60 minute adventure of deep and moody Techno selections from his home base of New York City, where he lives and works as a member of Curses’ “Safer At Night” collective. Jorge dropped in earlier this season with a stellar debut release for the young imprint, which we covered HERE, and he’s currently working on his latest passion project, COMFORT Radio, which kicks off early next month.

With an emphasis on revisiting Techno Music culture in the New York area, COMFORT Radio will strive to tap the hot bed of burgeoning talent and unify it’s multi- faceted lifestyle through heavily curated selections of photography, interviews and mixtapes. Keep your eyes and ears peeled for that and expect installments from Total Fitness, Peter Fonda, Volvox and Balarezo himeself.

Jorge’s mix for us delivers a diverse cross section of his Techno stylings: something melodic, something hard; something old, something new… essentially, what you’d expect to find at one of his many late night DJ sets across NY. Added bonus: peep this exclusive taste of Curses’ forthcoming tune for Safer At Night, “God In The Dust!”
